ODBC Teens

ODBC Teens The Open Door Teen Ministry is part of Open Door Baptist Church in Denham Springs, LA. We invite you to come be apart of all the excitement at CORE.

Our goal is to love teenagers and equip them for life through the Gospel of Christ and practical Bible Truth. ODBC CORE Student Ministry meets every Wednesday evening starting at 7:00 PM in the Teen Room on the Second Floor of Open Door Baptist Church. Each evening incorporates game time, small groups, music, singing, prayer and a challenge from God's Word! Here at CORE we have monthly activities

and events as well as Spring Retreats and Summer camps. For more information please reach out to our Youth Pastor Ryan Faciane, he would be glad to help you in any way possible. The Teen Sunday School meets at 9:30 AM each Sunday morning. We incorporate:
• Bible Study with practical application
• Discussion on current issues in the lives of our teens'
• Prayer for each other
• Encouragement for the week ahead

Tickets will be available for teens to pick up tonight at youth group in bundles of 10.
For every ticket sold, teens will receive $5 toward Teen Extreme Camp.
Help support our teens as they raise money for camp!
We are selling Jambalaya plates for $10, which includes green beans and a roll.

Hiking Activity Update
We’ve made a small change to our upcoming hiking trip for this Saturday.
New Location: Port Hudson Historic Site
(Instead of Clark Creek Trails)
Cost: $6 per person
(This covers entry fee and pavilion rental for shade and a place to eat.)
Same Time: 8:30am - 3:30pm
Why the change?
Port Hudson gives us more flexibility for the group, including:
-More open space for field games and activities after the hike
-A museum to explore
-An easier hike with less elevation.
-It is 35 min closer, so we can enjoy more time hiking and enjoying the property.
We’re looking forward to a great day together.

Great start to our new series Between You and Me — Week 1 Here is this weeks Recap:
“The Vertical Before the Horizontal”

This week, we laid the foundation for the entire series:
Before you fix your friendships…
Before you talk about dating…
Before you try to resolve conflict…

You must get the vertical relationship right.

Jesus said in Matthew 22:37,
“Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.”

That command is first for a reason.

When God is not first:
• We expect people to meet needs only He can satisfy.
• We attach our identity to relationships.
• We react from insecurity instead of stability.

Relational problems are often worship problems.

We were reminded from John 15:5 — “Without me ye can do nothing.”

That includes:
Healthy friendships.
God-honoring dating.
Forgiveness.
Patience.
Wisdom in conflict.

If Christ is not filling you, something else will — and it will spill into your relationships.

The goal isn’t better communication.
It’s a deeper communion with God.

When God is first, everything else finds its place.
