Well, today didn't go as planned.

I've been training hunting dogs (rabbit dogs, c**n dogs, squirrel dogs and retrievers) for 43 years. I have never lost a dog to snake bite. I've had a dozen or more get bit but they would swell up and get sick but in three days or so they was ready to go again.

I left early this morning and was going do some training on the pond with Prophet. We got to the church and got setup. I threw the first bumper in the pond and sent Prophet. He swam and got the bumper. Prophet was coming out the water on the bank when a big water moccasin struck him in the neck. I started looking for stick real quick to kill the snake but couldn't find one. Prophet was cowered down and I decided to get my truck. So, I ran across the field and got my truck and drove closer to him. When I went to pick him...he was already dead. It was just a crazy freak thing...literally minutes after the bite that he was gone.

Day 2 of working on getting Angel ready for 2026 Obedience 2 Death presentations. Increased the distance to the jump. Angel is incredibly intelligent and talented. She’s making a great addition to the Obedience2Death Ministries Team. Can’t thank Red Line Retrievers La and Trent Thibodeaux enough for all their hard work getting her to this point.
