Verse of the day:
1 Corinthians 13:11-12
New King James Version
11 When I was a child,
I spoke as a child,
I understood as a child,
I thought as a child;
but when I became a man,
I put away childish things.
12 For now we see in a mirror,
dimly,
but then face to face.
Now I know in part,
but then
I shall know
just as I also am known.
[How are we known, as in our image? or in the Image of Christ is He known though us?]
Taken from Day 12 of 31 reading
Psalm 57-61 Proverbs 12
Psalm 59
English Standard Version
Deliver Me from My Enemies
To the choirmaster: according to Do Not Destroy. A Miktam[or a situation which is personal but relates to us all at one point.] of David, when Saul sent men to watch his house in order to kill him.
59 Deliver me from my enemies, O my God;
protect me from those who rise up against me;
2 deliver me from those who work evil,
and save me from bloodthirsty men.
[bloodthirsty here is not evident of people who seek to kill but whose end desire is the same. Their deeds their words and their influences make the ones they speak to drawn away into situations which are and will lead them into depravity, destruction of soul and mind and David sees from the confidence of the Lord and into death if parted from the security and deliverance of the Lord.]
3 For behold, they lie in wait for my life;
fierce men stir up strife against me.
For no transgression or sin of mine, O Lord,
[sometimes we can do perfectly by man and by God by Jesus, and still we are persecuted for the sake of the ego or vanity of the feelings of others to be supported. Those bring strife upon those who God has called righteous for His good purpose, seeking to draw them through pressure into iniquities or persecutions which lead to a mortal death. But only God, Only Jesus control and have power over the Spirit unto eternity and it's outcome.]
4 for no fault of mine, they run and make ready.
Awake, come to meet me, and see!
5 You, Lord God of hosts, are God of Israel.
Rouse yourself to punish all the nations;
spare none of those who treacherously plot evil. Selah
6 Each evening they come back,
howling like dogs
and prowling about the city.
7 There they are, bellowing with their mouths
with swords in their lips—
for “Who,” they think, “will hear us?” [here or judge us]
8 But you, O Lord, laugh at them;
you hold all the nations in derision.
9 O my Strength, I will watch for you,
for you, O God, are my fortress.
10 My God in his steadfast love will meet me;
God will let me look in triumph on my enemies. [ God will let me see the foolishness of their ways to not walk in it]
11 Kill them not, lest my people forget;
make them totter by your power and bring them down,
O Lord, our shield!
12 For the sin of their mouths, the words of their lips,
let them be trapped in their pride.
For the cursing and lies that they utter,
13 consume them in wrath; [Just Judgement in righteousness]
consume them till they are no more,
that they may know that God rules over Jacob
to the ends of the earth. Selah [God's promise to Abraham in Genesis 22:18 speaking of Christ salvation]
14 Each evening they come back,
howling like dogs
and prowling about the city.
15 They wander about for food
and growl if they do not get their fill.
[Though the enemies of the righteous spoken in Verses 1-3 come about influencing in their ways they are never satisfied even in their own deeds they are never full not even in their own actions, pleasures, or vanities and ways they always seek more and lash out if their iniquities are not filling their passions from their followers who are against God and even from the righteous and God himself they complain.]
16 But I will sing of your strength;
I will sing aloud of your steadfast love in the morning.
For you have been to me a fortress
and a refuge in the day of my distress.
17 O my Strength, I will sing praises to you,
for you, O God, are my fortress,
the God who shows me steadfast love.
Proverbs 12 Amplified Version
1 One who loves discipline loves knowledge,
But one who hates rebuke (correction) is stupid.
2 A good person will obtain favor from the Lord,
But He will condemn a person who devises evil.
3 A person will not be established (satisfied/content) by wickedness,
But the root of the righteous will not be moved.
Things to consider....
When reading through Psalm 59, and Proverbs 12, and truly considering and studying the ways these are applied to our lives, what are your understanding of these verses?
How are these psalms(59:1-15, and Proverbs 12:2-3) as evident today as they were written?
Can we see this evidence in our every day lives working actively?
How can we use this knowledge to better our relationship with others? With Jesus?
Now if we do understand these things, what have we learned about the Word, and the will of God and of Jesus for us, this nature of God given to us?
