Thanks to all who attended August's Volusia Gathering Meeting with Special Guest Ella Shepherd, who works with the Volusia Pride youth division and is part of the First Unitarian Universalist Church of West Volusia. She shared her experiences, from helping out at Stetson University to her present advocacy with the Volusia Pride Youth. We also discussed a video from Dr. Kristine C***s' talk during the 2025 Gather Conference Worldwide. There were powerful conversations about being on the same level as others to better understand them.

Thanks to all who attended July's Volusia Gathering Meeting with Joey Pease, a volunteer at Volusia Pride and a Drag Entertainer (also known as Bianca Reign). He shared his experiences with his family and how wonderful their drag experiences have been performing for people. We also discussed the success of the Lake Helen Pride Prom and other events held last month.

Join us this Sunday for our Volusia Gathering at the Volusia Pride Community Space with Special Guest Joey Pease.

WHAT ARE GATHERINGS? Christ-centered support gatherings welcoming LGBTQ+ individuals, loved ones, and allies from all denominations. Whether you’re exploring how to be a better ally, looking for community, or hoping to share and listen to real experiences, you are welcome here. Together, we celebrate faith, love, and the unique journeys that make each of us
who we are.

HOW IS A GATHERING? We begin with a hymn, followed by a prayer, and then make announcements on events happening in the community. We also feature "Rainbow Connection" (a discussion about the advocacy we have undertaken with the LGBTQ+ community over the last month) and address a topic. Then we let our special guests share their story with us.

Water and light refreshments will be provided. If you would like to bring snacks to share, that would be wonderful.

This 2018 American documentary examines the intersection between LGBT people and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints through the eyes of Dan Reynolds, lead singer of the pop-rock band Imagine Dragons. It focuses on his efforts to organize the LOVELOUD Festival in Orem, Utah, in support of Utah LGBTQ+ youth.

💜 Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Potluck and Movie Gathering this past Sunday.

Together, we watched the documentary SANCTUARY and engaged in meaningful conversations about faith, identity, and belonging. It was a powerful opportunity to discuss important topics affecting our communities, including supporting our trans siblings, addressing the mental health challenges and su***de risks faced by LGBTQIA+ youth, and exploring how different faith traditions are evolving to become more welcoming and inclusive.

Most importantly, we were reminded of the value of creating spaces where people can share their stories, listen with compassion, and know they are not alone.

Thank you for helping make Volusia Gatherings a place where faith, love, and community come together. 💜

Thanks to all who attended the May Volusia Gathering Meeting with Jen Cousins, former chair of GLSEN Central Florida. She shared her experiences raising her LGBTQ+ kids and standing up for her children with the school board and other parties. We also spoke about the success of Proclamation of Love and David Archuleta's autobiography, Devout. Plus, we had our first meeting at the Volusia Pride Community Space.
