During the Civil War, the women and the elderly, of the Delta Community would meet in homes and pray for their husbands', fathers' and sons' that were away fighting in the war. In 1863 from one of these homes they organized a Church. Matilda Stephens, mother of Dr. A.R. Stephens was instrumental, in organizing the church. The services were held in a one room log building. Arvel Howell was the firs

t pastor and the church was located just above the Mr. Jack Preston place. The church was a member of the Boiling Springs Association. This church was organized before Clay County was formed December 7, 1866, from the surrounding counties of Randolph and Talladega. In 1880 a new frame building was erected, near the site of the old church, now standing on the hill. On April 17, 1880 the name of the church was changed to Delta Baptist Church. in 1886 the by-laws were written and the decorum was adopted by the church. In 1900, the church became affiliated with the Clay County Association. On 1911 the church withdrew from the Clay county Association and joined with the Carey Association. Through the years there were many outstanding pastors including Rev. Frank Ingram, Rev. Sim Ingram, Rev. Mansel Garret and Rev. Bowman.
1939 Mrs. S.A. Britt donated a plot of land for a new church, a frame building was erected and later brick veneer was added, to the outside. Each family purchased a pew as a memorial to their family members. To this day there are many new families coming into the church and taking active parts in church activities and helping to making the church the Blessing it still is today.
