From an Easter homily by St. Athanasius (Bishop):

"It was necessary for Christ to suffer: his passion was absolutely unavoidable. He said so himself when he called his companions dull and slow to believe because they failed to recognize that he had to suffer and so enter into his glory. Leaving behind him the glory that had been his with the Father before the world was made, he had gone forth to save his people. This salvation, however, could be achieved only by the suffering of the author of our life, as Paul taught when he said that the author of life himself was made perfect through suffering. Because of us he was deprived of his glory for a little while, the glory that was his as the Father’s only-begotten Son, but through the cross this glory is seen to have been restored to him in a certain way in the body that he had assumed. Explaining what water the Savior referred to when he said: He that has faith in me shall have rivers of living water flowing from within him, John says in his gospel that he was speaking of the Holy Spirit which those who believed in him were to receive, for the Spirit had not yet been given because Jesus had not yet been glorified. The glorification he meant was his death upon the cross for which the Lord prayed to the Father before undergoing his passion, asking his Father to give him the glory that he had in his presence before the world began."
V. The Lord is risen, Alleluia, Alleluia!
R. He is risen indeed, Alleluia, Alleluia!

This information is very important in understanding how the Catholic Church and culture got to where it is now. 1968 was the year that the tidal wave of the sexual revolution tore at the foundations of family, marriage and respect for sexuality and procreation. After 51 years we are still reaping the tragic effects of this "liberation". In our opinion, the acceptance of the pill the rejection of traditional understanding of human sexuality as being ordered to BOTH UNION AND PROCREATION is a major part of what has led to the loss of virtue, the absence of reverence, the rise of irresponsibility and the lack of respect that we see at all levels of our society. The Catholic Church has paid a very high price for the lack of receptivity and infidelity to Pope St. Paul VI's and Saint John Paul II's teaching of the truth about this issue and the moral law.

David G. Bonagura, Jr.: St. John Paul’s pontificate was forged in part in response to the crisis that found its expression in the Sexual Revolution.

Thank you everyone who has accepted our Friend request. We are attempting to build up a following to our Fides Catholic Apostolate as we seek to bring our on-line adult Formation courses to a wider audience. We have received very popular feedback in the Archdiocese of Miami and believe that these courses can be very beneficial in other dioceses.

The Fides Catholic Apostolate is planning to exhibit, God-willing, at the NCCL annual convention in Jacksonville May 22-26. Please pray for us that the Holy Spirit will attract diocesan directors and parish DRE's to the on-line courses which we have created. Our five courses have proven themselves to be present the faith and the Gospel message in an attractive, faithful and interactive way. The more than 500 catechists and Catholic school teachers in the Archdiocese of Miami and the Diocese of Venice who have taken our courses have told us that they have enjoyed the courses and have been strengthened in their faith through the study of Scripture and the Catechism (Scripture and Tradition). We ask for your prayers at this time as it seems that some people do not want us to exhibit at the NCCL.

As Lent draws to a close and March gives way to April and winter to spring, Fides Catholic Apostolate is looking for new growth and opportunities. We are very for the 75 Catholic School teachers and catechists in Miami who are currently enrolled in our courses during this six week session. We will be partnering with the Diocese of Fairbanks starting in June or July. I have been invited to give a workshop at the NCCL conference in Jacksonville in May. I am still hoping that the opportunity to provide solid formation in for catechists and teachers in the dioceses of Tampa / St. Pete, Orlando, and Pensacola-Tallahassee will be opened to Fides very soon. Would you kindly join with Ted and me for this intention?

We were at St. Lawrence Church in Tampa for the Year of Mercy Conference yesterday, Feb. 20. It was great to be there with Bryan Thatcher and the Marianist priests from Stockbridge, MA. I really enjoyed Fr. Calloway's testimony!
