Celebrating Pride Month
June is Pride Month! Normally, we celebrate by offering an LGBTQIA+ movie through Reel Theology. This year, we are encouraging the entire congregation to watch one of the following movies to express solidarity with our LGBTQIA+ brothers and sisters: Call Me By Your Name (HBO MAX) or Moonlight (HBO MAX). Both movies tell a story of young men coming to terms with their sexual orientation. Both movies may be available through other services as well.

Clothing for the Homeless
The Delray Beach Interfaith Committee on Social Justice is collecting men’s jogging shorts (new or gently used) to hand out at the Mobile Shower Truck. A collection box is located at the back of the Sanctuary. In the Fall, they will need new or gently used blue jeans for men and women. This is an easy way for us to show our support for the Interfaith Committee which we support financially as well.

Approved Sabbatical Plans
At its March meeting, the Leadership Council approved a three-month sabbatical for Rev. Petty. Within the United Church of Christ, it is customary for pastors to receive a three-month sabbatical after every five years of service to a congregation. Rev. Petty completed six years of ministry at Church of the Palms on January 15, 2026.

Rev. Petty’s sabbatical will take place during the months of July, August, and September. In addition, he will make use of part of his annual paid time off during the month of June, recognizing that the 2026–2027 “season” begins shortly after his return in the Fall.

New Hearing Assistance Devices Available

New hearing assistance devices have been purchased for the Sanctuary’s hearing loop system. If you are having trouble hearing the service, please ask the usher for a device. It is simple to use and works very well! Three devices are available at this time. We can purchase more if needed. Additionally, if you wear hearing aids, they should sync with the hearing loop system.
