Church today was one of those services that leaves your heart tender long after you walk out the doors. The presence of God was so sweet, so heavy, and so personal. 🤍
Adam and Eve tried to cover up what sin had exposed. They sewed fig leaves together because shame told them to hide.
But God came looking for them.
And when their covering wasn’t enough, God provided one. (Genesis 3:7, 21)
That’s the difference between a cover-up and a covering.
A cover-up says, “Hide what happened so no one sees it.”
A covering says, “Bring it into the light so God can heal it.” A cover-up protects the wound from being seen. A godly covering protects the person while the wound is being healed.
And ultimately, what began in Eden points us straight to Jesus. We were never meant to spend our lives sewing together fig leaves, desperately trying to hide our shame. God intended to cover what we could never cover ourselves.
What a beautiful reminder today that God doesn’t expose us to destroy us. He calls us out of hiding so He can cover us with what only He can provide.
Such a moving, Spirit-filled morning at church.
