If you had to make your presence known what you do? Would you have a song that played like a lot athletes and teams or would you have a signature move like wrestlers do? Maybe you’d even have a scribe announce your arrival. For instance, you walk into work or a restaurant and the scribe pulls out a scroll and says something like “hear ye, hear ye Sir or Lady (your name) has arrived.” It’d be kinda cool right…maybe, sort of 🤷🏼‍♀️

In 1Kings 19:11-12 the Bible tells us about how God made His presence known to the prophet, Elijah. The poor guy was feeling a bit discouraged, rejected, alone, and like a failure. He literally had his life threatened and was hiding in a cave. But, rather than come to him in some super grandiose way like wind, fire, and an earthquake which God has done previously; He came to Elijah in a whisper, a still, small voice.

And maybe that’s you. Maybe you’re like Elijah and you’re just going through some stuff and you just need a second to catch your breath or you wanna hide somewhere. Do it!! Take a second or five and just be still. God meets us in our exhaustion, in fears, etc.

He met Elijah's depression with His quiet presence and offered comfort and gentle direction. And if He did it for him, He’ll most certainly do it for you too!!

It's exhausting, isn't it? You’re walking around with a smile when inside, you're actually falling apart. People look at you and think that you’ve got it all together and that you’re okay. But, they don’t realize how many sleepless nights you’ve had because of crying or how hard you've broken down as soon as you get in the door. The heaviness of your heart, the depth of your pain… it’s too much to bear. To make it worse it’s invisible to others because you’re so good at concealing it and putting on a mask.

But God knows. You can’t hide it from Him. God is all-knowing (omniscient) and present everywhere (omnipresent), perceiving all human actions, thoughts, and intentions—both good and bad—without restriction by time or space. So every tear that falls, every sleepless night, every silent scream into the void… He sees it all. He knows all of the weight that you're carrying, the battles that you fight in the dark, the ones that you think you’ve hidden.

No one else may know or see how much you've cried or how much you've struggled but, He does and that matters more than anything else. He loves you so much!! So join us Sunday at 10:00AM. You can bring your sorrows, your tears, your fear and trade them for joy.

Waiting can be challenging, especially when we long for the fulfillment of God’s promises. This verse encourages us to hold onto hope during the waiting period. Just as God promised restoration to Israel and Judah, He promises to be with us, and guide us through our waiting seasons.
