VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

The Mission and Evangelism Committee is seeking volunteers who would like to go to the Estates at Delano and spend time with the residents. Volunteers would be able to choose from a variety of activities such as playing Bingo, doing female residents' nails, playing cards or other games, hosting a movie afternoon or night, doing projects, gardening, or other activities of their choice, as new ideas arise. Participants would need to have a background check done prior to volunteering. The activities director will be out on maternity leave soon so this would be a great time to have people able and willing to provide activities while she is out. MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH- MAY 2026

On Sunday, May 3rd, our LOC fellowship hour/breakfast was hosted by your Healing and Wholeness Committee, and we are delighted to let you know that $361 was donated towards our annual dues of $900 for Mental Health Connect! Anyone interested in making a donation through the month of May, you can pay via the Give page on our website (www.lightofchristlutheran.com) or leave an envelope in the offering designating your gift to “Mental Health Connect.” We thank you!

Sue Fink and Lisa Spencer attended our first “Stories of Hope” breakfast with MHC at Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church this month. It was great to meet other members and learn more about the organization and all they have to offer. We heard “Cultivating Hope in Community” from two pastors in the metro area who spoke about the resilience of our communities in the face of the unprecedented circumstances around Metro Surge. Their message in brief: “I am brave, because WE are brave.”

Please browse our mental health resource display in the Narthex set up throughout this month. You will find resources for Mental Health Connect and information on various mental health concerns. Also find resources on our LOC website under Support/Mental Health. Remember, you are not alone and there is help.
