First United Methodist Church of DeLand Disaster Response Team We are a group with the desire and training to assist with recovery after a disaster and work with church members on needed repairs and improvements.

The First UMC DeLand Disaster Response Team is a group with the desire and training to assist individuals and families recover after a disaster. The team is supported by a utility trailer stocked with chain saws, generators, cleaning supplies, tarps, power tools and a variety of hardware – all needed to get people back on their feet after a devastating event. During serious or complex events, the

trailer is also equipped with a computer, solar power, walkie-talkies and a high power 2-way radio. We provide…
-Help to local individuals and families with clean up and repairs after a major storm
-Long term recovery statewide working through the Florida UMC Conference along with other churches
-A plan for our church to be prepared before disaster hits
-Assistance to local church members with home repairs during “quiet” season
-Provide a listening ear to those in need

-Experience with electrical, plumbing, carpentry
-Be a helping hand to the crew
-Disaster planning
-FCC Amateur Radio or GMRS license
