Valerie shares this tip:

You're not going hungry this week, are you? Be sure to be feeding yourself from the Word even during these few days between plans! I'm listening to a different audio edition of the Psalms than I've heard before. What's on your plate? If you need menu ideas, here are some I jotted down for a "between time" a few years ago:

We love seeing the "What are we supposed to read next week???" posts. You've got an appetite for the Word and don't want to go hungry...and that's what the Bible Reading Challenge is all about!

While there is no formal Bible Reading Challenge plan for next week, of course we don't want to fast from Scripture! Here are some ideas of what to read until the new plan starts on June 3:

📖 If there were any days you skipped over the summer, you've got a whole catch-up week.

📖 Proverbs has 31 chapters, so 5ish chapters a day would fill up six days tidily.

📖 Read five psalms a day, and you'll get through thirty. Next time we have a week's break, do the next thirty.

📖 Pick an epistle and read it every day. Personally, I think deeply imbibing of Philippians (don't be anxious! rejoice!) would do a lot of us a lot of good these days.

📖 Pick a book or two you especially loved over the summer, and reread.

📖 Pick a book or two you really struggled with over the summer, and reread.

📖 Is there a portion of Scripture you're really unfamiliar with? Maybe some of the minor prophets? Get in an extra reading of that this week to get to know it better.

📖 If you're prone to fall behind, get a headstart on the new plan.

📖 Read whatever you want...just keep reading!

Rest and wait!

It’s almost impossible to rest while others seem to be thriving. Patience during the waiting process is a challenge! Social media has made it hard to ignore the highlights of others’ lives. We scroll through their success stories, often feeling like we’re not living our best life.

This weekend, I saw friends and loved ones enjoying beautiful towns and relaxing on stunning beaches. I was delighted to see friends with enough energy to walk all day at Disneyland and rejoiced with churches that experienced a powerful outpouring of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost Sunday! It was a joy to witness God’s blessings on His children. God is good!

However, those were just a few highlights. The rest of the world didn’t have a Disney day or a beach walk. Many people stayed home, catching up on household chores. Life takes on a different perspective when people are grieving a loss or caring for a sick loved one.

Over the years, I’ve learned a valuable lesson: everyone has a season, and each season is unique, personal, and purposeful. If you wait patiently, your day of blessing will come!

God’s Word advises us not to worry about those who prosper in their ways and encourages us to “Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him.”

For me, “rest” means trust, and “wait” means expecting. We serve an unfailing and always-on-time God! He always completes what He starts. He is just, righteous, and true.

Rest and wait—God is faithful!💛

“For thus says the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel: “In returning and rest you shall be saved; In quietness and confidence shall be your strength.” But you would not,”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭30‬:‭15‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

In quiet confidence we will find strength.

When the enemy comes against us with smoke screened illusions of defeat, his goal is that we panic and take matters into our own hands. But God’s Word is reminding us to rest from our efforts, and wait in quiet confidence … our help will come!

For the Lord is a faithful God. Blessed are those who wait for his help.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭30‬:‭18‬ ‭NLT‬

Pentecost Sunday!

As Jesus was about to ascend, He delivered a parting promise to His faithful followers:

“But you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”
Acts 1:4-5

Waiting for a promise is a true test of faith. The Bible does not say much about the in-between, but it does tell us that they were obedient and that they were of one mind and one accord. These three key elements ensured that they would receive The Promise: faith, obedience, and unity.

“And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”
Acts 2:4 NKJV

Everyone was filled—no one was left out. All who believed, all who waited, and all who were unified received and began to speak with other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Jesus gifted them with the most powerful gift any human could ever receive—the Holy Spirit, Christ dwelling within us!

The Holy Spirit is our Helper and Comforter. (John 14:26)
He is our Teacher who brings conviction against sin. (John 16:7-8)
He is Power—to heal, deliver, and boldly witness. (Acts 1:8)

You and I have been given the most powerful gift anyone can possess—the Holy Spirit! This truth should stir within us a desire to live holy lives so we can activate and operate in the gifts He has imparted to each of us.

This promise is unto you, your children, and your children’s children. I believe the Holy Spirit still longs to descend upon every waiting, believing, and unified heart.

“For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”
Acts 2:39 NKJV

“I love those who love me, And those who seek me diligently will find me.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭8‬:‭17‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Intimacy with God… He dwells in the secret places!
Intimacy is the place of love, safety and of revelation. Our private conversations with the Lord will lead to public reward, Divine protection, and the revelation of hidden secrets! May our hearts yearn to diligently seek His presence…if we seek Him, we will find Him and we will be loved by Him! God is faithful!

“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭91‬:‭1‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“The secret of the Lord is with those who fear Him, And He will show them His covenant.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭25‬:‭14‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“Surely the Lord God does nothing, Unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.”
‭‭Amos‬ ‭3‬:‭7‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭37‬ ‭NLT‬‬

We all need a healthy dose of godly confidence sometimes!

Life can bring unexpected hardships that leave us feeling overwhelmed and weary. At times, the obstacles before us seem impossible to overcome, making us feel trapped and unable to move forward. As a pastor’s wife, I’ve heard these stories often, and they stir something deep within me. A holy fight rises up, and I reach for the Sword of the Spirit—God’s Word! His Word reminds us that He is fighting our battles.

Again and again, when David found himself trapped, discouraged, sick, or hiding in caves, God rescued him.

We are God’s children, and His Word is truth! We can have confidence that He will come to our rescue. No matter the trial, and even when it feels like you’ve been forgotten, “overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loves us.”

“God arms me with strength, and he makes my way perfect.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭18‬:‭32‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“In your strength I can crush an army; with my God I can scale any wall.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭18‬:‭29‬ ‭NLT‬‬

God is faithful!💙
