Every bed at Mercy Hospital Oklahoma City is full. We have 57 patients with COVID-19 today compared to 42 a week ago. Four patients in our ER need a hospital bed but we donβt have any available. We had 50 people who needed to be transferred to our hospital yesterday for care but we could only take seven of those patients. We are still taking patients as we have room, but due to limited capacity, we are having to prioritize care for the sickest patients in need. We are asking for your grace and patience. βIt's really difficult to have a patient that needs a treatment that is typically readily available and can give them the best chance of survival, but we can't provide it to them, because there's just no availability in the facilities that have that treatment,β said Dr. Ariel Lufkin, medical director of telemedicine for Mercy in Oklahoma.
