Leading our recessional hymn today was our very own Randy Stubbs, visiting from Tanzania, where he has developed music education programs and spearheaded the Cultural Arts Center at Makumira University. He, along with daughter Marissa and son Bless, talked in the social hall how one volunteer year in Africa turned into a 20-year career. (More posts to follow).

Not unlike Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, First Lutheran gives out books every month during the school year. Come on Sunday, Sept. 6, for our first books of the school year. Our theme this month is "self-worth." Take one of our wonderful books home for your kids, grandkids, or neighbors.

We recognized September birthdays during worship, and Pastor Gary asked the kids to find crosses in the church. He gave them anchor stickers to remind them that the cross “anchors” our lives.
