A Prayer in the Storm

Lord Jesus, as You calmed the storm on the sea,
we ask You now to calm the raging winds and heavy rains around us.

Stretch out Your saving hand, O Lord,
and protect our families, our homes, and our communities
from the danger of this hurricane and it's possible tornadoes and floods.
Grant safety to those who travel,
and shelter to those who have nowhere to go.

Increase our trust in Your divine power,
that even in the midst of fear,
we may never doubt Your presence among us.
Teach us to say with confidence:
“Even the winds and the sea obey You.”

May this storm pass quickly,
and may Your peace reign once more over our land.
We ask this through You, Lord Jesus Christ,
who lives and reigns with the Father and the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever. Amen.
