This is what exposure can look like. ⚡️

Our high school students had the chance to get hands-on with basic electrical alongside our partners at Northwest State Community College.

Not every student will connect with every career they experience, but every opportunity helps them learn more about what’s out there, what might fit them, and what they can appreciate.

We’re so grateful for Northwest State and the way they continue to help us bring hands-on career exposure directly to students.

Sometimes exposure sparks interest. Sometimes it creates direction. Either way, it opens the door to possibility.

September 11

Some days become part of who we are.

September 11, 2001 was one of those days.

We remember the images.
The smoke.
The sirens.
The faces searching for answers.
The strangers helping strangers.
The firefighters running toward what everyone else was running from.
The families who said goodbye without knowing it would be the last time.

So much changed that morning.

Nearly 3,000 lives were lost. Thousands of families were forever changed. And in the middle of unimaginable fear and heartbreak, we also witnessed extraordinary courage, sacrifice, compassion, and unity.

Twenty-five years later, we still remember.

We remember those who went to work that morning and never came home.

We remember the first responders who ran in.

We remember those who stepped forward to help.

We remember the families who have carried an empty space ever since.

And for a generation of young people who weren’t alive that day, we keep telling the story, because remembering matters.

Today isn’t about rushing past the pain.

It’s about honoring the lives.
Remembering the sacrifice.
Holding onto the humanity we saw in one another.

September 11, 2001.

We remember.
We honor.
We will never forget. 🇺🇸

🎉 100 students started their journey of discovering who they are!

Every chair represents a student. Every student carries a story. And today, 100 of those stories started a new chapter.

One of the best parts of the day was seeing a handful of former students from our afterschool program.

One student shared that she has been off probation since graduating from the program a year ago and has stayed out of trouble ever since! 🙌🎉

The smile on her face when we said, “LET’S GOOO!” said it all. She was so proud of herself, and she should be.

These are the moments that remind us why this work matters.

Here’s to growth, confidence, second chances, and students discovering just how much is possible for their future.

A father’s influence reaches far beyond what he can see.

Today we celebrate the dads and father figures who lead with strength, love, patience, and integrity. Thank you for the sacrifices you make, the lessons you teach, and the example you set every day.

Your presence matters. Your words matter. Your impact matters.

🔥 Congratulations to our Ignite Academy Workforce students on completing this cohort!

Over the past several weeks, these students have put in the work learning automotive, construction, financial literacy, leadership, and real-world life skills. More importantly, we’ve watched their confidence grow week by week.

A special shoutout to our seniors, Remi and Trevor, as they step into this next chapter of life. We are proud of you both and excited to see where life takes you next.

Keep showing up. Keep growing. Keep believing in what’s possible. 👏🔥

📣 Grant Announcement: Ignite Academy Receives $10,000 Grant for Mobile Welding Workforce Initiative

We are proud to announce a $10,000 grant to Ignite Academy during the 2026 Spring Grant Cycle through the Defiance County Capital Projects Fund, under our umbrella..

This funding will support Ignite Academy’s new Mobile Welding Workforce Initiative, created to address the growing demand for skilled welders across Defiance County and Northwest Ohio.

Through portable mobile welding units, Ignite Academy will bring hands-on welding training directly into schools, businesses, and community settings. Students will gain early exposure to welding skills, safety practices, and career pathways, helping build a stronger local workforce for the future.

By making technical education more accessible and engaging, this initiative creates opportunities for students to explore high-demand careers while strengthening the talent pipeline for local industries.

The Defiance Area Foundation is honored to support projects that invest in education, workforce development, and the future of our community.

Not every lesson happens in the shop.

This week, our students got a behind-the-scenes look at what it really takes in the roofing industry—and more importantly, what it takes to build something that lasts.

Huge thank you to Buckeye Roofing & Exteriors for opening your doors, sharing real insight, and showing our students what it looks like to do business with purpose.

Our students walked away with more than knowledge… they walked away with perspective.

Opportunities like this matter. Exposure matters. Conversations like this stick.

Grateful for businesses who invest in the next generation. 🔥
