We are part of the United Church of Christ, which was founded in 1957 as the union of several different Christian traditions, including the Congregational church that has deep roots in New England. As a mainline Protestant Church, we attract a diverse group of parishioners from Deering and neighboring towns. Our current membership numbers around thirty, with about 60% attending worship on any given Sunday. Our congregation is diverse in political persuasion, and religious ethos. Many were raised outside the UCC and joined us from Catholic, Lutheran, Episcopal, and un-churched backgrounds. We welcome skeptics as well as those from other faiths and denominations to explore with us what God is calling us to do as individuals and as a church community. We value supporting a wide spectrum of beliefs and think pluralism is not only the best moral course, but also expands our horizons and greatly enriches our lives. Our minister is Pastor Karen Landry, who was called to be our pastor starting in January 2022. Karen is a graduate from Andover Newton Theological School, class of 2016. For an appointment, leave a message at the church office (603-464-5643) or send an email to [email protected]. Someone will get back to you shortly. Karen has a deep passion for community and spiritually based peace and justice ministry; very much reflected in the life, mission, and traditions of Deering Community Church. Deering is an Open and Affirming Church and partnered in Ukama friendship with the United Church of Christ in Rimbi, Zimbabwe.
