Last Camp Kirchenwald update: today was the last day at the camp. Before we headed out for our service project for the day, the camp gave us tokens- and recognized those who were repeat campers!
Our project today was for Bridge of Hope, making 5 meals for 6 families. 30 meals total! https://harrisburg.bridgeofhopeinc.org/
The girls selected meals and made shopping lists before we left and then cooked and assembled all of the meals this morning.
We are now on our way home- anticipating to be back in our own beds by tomorrow evening!

Camp Kirchenwald update: uff da! What a day! We spent the day at CATRA which is a therapeutic horse farm. They offer horse therapy services with a doctor’s order for all kinds of therapeutic purposes. https://catra.net/. 95% of the farm work is taken care of by volunteers.
Our job? Cleaning out the horse paddocks! Today’s high was well over 90 degrees and we were in the sun all day, but the youth worked hard and were rewarded by getting to play with the miniature horses before we left.
In the evening we came back to camp for games and lots of laughter!

News from Camp Kirchenwald:
Today was spent at the Wittle Growing Farm Project

We picked: 51lbs of beans
127 lbs tomatoes and peppers
5 lbs squash.
And buckets upon buckets of
Elderberries!
Check out the website of the Wittle Farm project. They are doing amazing things as a regenerative organic farm, and have already harvested over 7000 pounds of produce that is given away to communities and families. Next year they plan to grow and harvest 100,000 pounds of food! And all of this is done with incredible volunteers!

After our day of harvesting we stopped for ice cream, spent some time in Bible study, and created nature works of art in the craft cabin.

Camp Kirchenwald update: we spent Tuesday at Christ Church in Harrisburg, painting and cleaning. Christ church has a free health clinic and dental clinic that serves over 10,000 people in the community each year.
Then we adventured to Chiques Rock for some real rock climbing!

News from Camp Kirchenwald: We dried out Monday and enjoyed a beautiful day with folks at Luther Acres and then topped it off with a rock wall, zip line, and high ropes course ( which was more challenging than the kids made it look!)
Today we’ll be working at a health clinic in town!
