The mind is a TV with many channels. On one channel all you see are problems, problems, problems. But if you turn to another channel, you will see everything as empty. On some other channel you’ll see only fighting and killing. There are many different programs! It is very important to remember that life appears to you according to your interpretation, according to your channel. If you change to the ta***ic channel, you can see everything as pure: yourself as Buddha and the place as a mandala. And there’s another channel where everything looks hopeless.

It is actually very good to understand this, because you then know that the mind-channel you want is in your hands. How you want your life to be—full of problems or full of happiness—is completely in your hands. It all depends on what you do with your mind. Everything—samsara or liberation, hell or enlightenment—depends on what you do with your mind. And even in everyday life, everything—harmony or disharmony, happiness or unhappiness—has to do with the channel you choose.

So, we have incredible freedom.

Quote for the day!! 🙏🌈🌼😍

"The reason we are alive is to eliminate every suffering of every kind mother sentient being. With this motivation, every second of our life becomes incredibly meaningful, not narrow but infinite like the limitless sky. We are all responsible for the happiness of all other sentient beings; it is in our hands. This is so logical, but because so few people seem to be able to see the importance of compassion in our life, I thought it might be good to advertise compassion in order to inspire people. 🥰

How to Face Death Without Fear
A Teaching with Venerable Robina Courtin

***Saturday May 16th - Retreat
10:00 am to 4:00 pm EDT
(Online and In-person)

Death is the one certainty of life, yet it remains one of our greatest taboos. We avoid it, fear it, and are rarely prepared for it when it arrives. But what if we could meet death with courage, clarity, and even peace of mind?

Drawing on Lama Zopa Rinpoche's How to Face Death Without Fear, Venerable Robina Courtin guides participants through key Tibetan Buddhist teachings and practices that prepare us for this natural event. Topics include how to think about death and rebirth, what to do before and at the moment of death, and how to support loved ones through the dying process.

As Lama Zopa Rinpoche teaches, thinking about death is not morbid. It is useful, logical, and necessary. To die well and without fear, we must first learn to live well. These teachings are valuable for everyone, including caregivers, hospice workers, and chaplains.

Venerable Robina Courtin is known for her frank, energetic teaching style and her ability to make the profound wisdom of Tibetan Buddhism accessible and relevant to modern life.

We will break for lunch from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm. Please bring or obtain your own lunch during this break.

Quote for the day!! 🙏🌼🌈

"My point of view is that if you really understand clean clear, with determination, that satisfaction comes from the mind, if you really understand that, it's enough. The nature of that mind is actually blissful. We're bound by seeking pleasure from the outside, and that makes us restless. If we could just discover that satisfaction comes from the mind, we we'd automatically have a feeling of liberation and acceptance. But for some reason we never accept that fact; we never accept that what we have is OK, the we're all right the way we are. We don't accept the situation we're in and are always seeking more."

Quote for the day!! 🪻🌸🌼🌷🌈

"Before the Buddha became enlightened he had a samsaric mind like we have. His attainment of enlightenment was not spontaneous; it didn’t happen without him gradually developing his mind and achieving the realizations on the path to enlightenment. Through bodhichitta, he steadily overcame his delusions and increased his positive qualities, his mind opening like a lotus until his obscurations were totally destroyed and his positive qualities were totally realized."
