Part 2 — From the Staff to the Ark: God Dwelling Among His People
“Lift up your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea.” ~ Exodus 14:16
“When the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord of all the earth passes before you into the Jordan…” ~ Joshua 3:11

At the Red Sea, Moses lifted his staff, and God parted the waters.
At the Jordan, priests carrying the Ark stepped into the flood, and the waters parted again.

The difference was not only in who acted, but in how God revealed Himself.

At the Red Sea, His power flowed through a chosen leader’s obedience.

At the Jordan, His presence moved among a consecrated people.
The staff in Moses’ hand represented authority, God’s delegated power to lead, protect, and deliver.

But the Ark represented abiding presence, the glory of God dwelling among His people.

This was a sacred shift from a man standing before the people to God walking among them.

In the wilderness, the Ark had always gone before them, a visible reminder of covenant and mercy. Now, at the Jordan, it would enter the waters with them, showing that the crossing into promise was no longer by command from afar, but by the nearness of God Himself.

The Ark carried within it:
• The Tablets of the Law — His Word and covenant.
• The Golden Pot of Manna — His daily provision.
• Aaron’s Rod that Budded — His authority confirmed by resurrection life.

Together, they pointed to the coming reality of Christ — the Word made flesh, the Bread of Life, the Risen High Priest.

When the priests stepped into the water, they carried the testimony of who God is: truth, sustenance, and life.

This time, the miracle happened not when they lifted something, but when they carried Someone.

Reflection
The Church today stands in this same calling. We are not spectators waiting for God to act through others, but vessels called to carry His presence into a world flooded with uncertainty.

When we step forward in obedience bearing Christ within us, the same power that stilled the Jordan still works through humble faith and consecrated hearts.

“For we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.” 2 Corinthians 4:7

🙏 Prayer
Lord, thank You for the honor of carrying Your presence.
Teach us to walk as priests before You, humble, consecrated, and aware that You dwell within us.

Let Your Word guide us, Your Spirit sustain us, and Your resurrection life flow through us,
that wherever we step, Your presence would make a way.
Amen.

Part 1 Two Crossings, One Covenant God

“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” — Exodus 14:14

“When the priests who carried the Ark of the Covenant stepped into the waters, the Jordan stood still.” — Joshua 3:15–16

Two waters. Two crossings.
At the Red Sea, Israel was fleeing.
At the Jordan, they were entering.

One crossing marked deliverance; the other marked fulfillment.
At the Sea, God worked for them.

At the Jordan, He worked through them.
The first was salvation; the second, sanctification.

One broke their bo***ge to Egypt; the other began their obedience in promise.

Both required faith, yet faith matured between each miracle.

At the Sea, they stood still and watched God move.
At the Jordan, they stepped forward and watched God dwell among them.

The Red Sea represents the beginning of our walk with God,
when His power rescues us, when grace parts the impossible,
when He proves He is able to save.

The Jordan represents the call of maturity.
to step forward carrying His presence,
to let obedience and consecration open what cannot open by mere effort.

Reflection
Many believers live between the two crossings — delivered but not yet possessed, freed but not yet filled. God’s desire is not only to bring us out, but to bring us in. Specifically, to bring us into a life where His presence leads and His Spirit governs every step.

Prayer
Lord, help us to move beyond standing still in deliverance, and into the fullness of walking with You, where faith becomes obedience, and Your presence marks every place we step.

Journey with Us: From the Red Sea to the Jordan

There are moments in Scripture where God parts the waters, and each one tells us something about His heart.

At the Red Sea, He brings His people out of bo***ge.
At the Jordan River, He brings them into promise.

Two crossings, forty years apart, both miracles, yet not the same.
At the Sea, God fought for them.
At the Jordan, His presence went before them.

The first revealed His power to save; the second, His desire to dwell.

Between those two waters, a nation was formed, a people who learned dependence, trust, and obedience.

In Egypt, they were not yet a people, they were slaves, bound under oppression.
But in the wilderness, God began to form a nation, teaching them to walk by faith and to live under His covenant.
He was not only bringing them out of bo***ge, but shaping a people set apart for His glory.

And it all began because of the covenant God made with man, a promise He made to Abraham more than four hundred years earlier. God, who called one man would now bring forth a nation, fulfilling His word and revealing His faithfulness for all generations.

Through this people, God would begin to reveal His ways to the nations, showing that He not only saves but sanctifies,
choosing to work through His people to fulfill His will on the earth.

This short reflection will walk through these passages and uncover what they reveal about our journey of faith
how God delivers, forms, fills, and finally works through His people.

We invite you to slow down with us and revisit The Res Sea to the Jordon River Journey as we discover that the God who begins a good work is faithful to complete it! Not only around us, but within us.

“He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it.” — Philippians 1:6
