What a powerful day at Gospel Life Church.

Today we stepped into ACT 2 | SCENE 1 — The Blood Path in The Script, and we talked about something every family understands:

Mess.

Every family has two versions.

The version everybody sees — the smiling pictures, the public posts, the “we’re doing great” version.

And then there’s the real version — the wounds, the patterns, the empty chairs, the tension, the broken promises, the things nobody wants to bring up at the table.

And here is the good news from Genesis 12 and 15:

God does not wait for a clean family tree to plant covenant roots.

He started His rescue plan through Abram — an old man with a barren wife, an impossible promise, and a family line that would be filled with lying, laughing, manipulating, competing, betraying, failing, and falling apart.

You thought your family was messed up?

God started redemption with one too.

But the sermon was not ultimately about how messy Abram’s family was.

It was about how faithful God is.

Abram brought the knife.

God brought the promise.

Abram fell asleep.

God walked the blood path.

And that blood path runs all the way to Jesus.

The hope of the gospel is not that our families finally get healthy enough for God to use.

The hope of the gospel is that Jesus entered a messy family line to redeem messy people like us.

So stop saying your family is too broken.

Stop saying too much damage has already been done.

Stop saying, “This is just who we are.”

Covenant grace is stronger than family dysfunction.

And the blood of Jesus speaks a better word than the bloodline you came from.

What a day.

God is not finished with your family.

Far from just a childhood Sunday school lesson, Genesis 6–9 gives us a striking look at the tension between judgment and grace, challenging us to evaluate the intimacy of our own spiritual walk.

Here are the core takeaways from the message to reflect on this week:

The Danger of Desensitization: In Noah's day, humanity had become completely desensitized to their own evil, accepting it as their normal reality [08:12]. Desensitization is a gradual process that can quiet our hearts to sin, compromise, or toxic environments in our own relationships and workplaces today if we are not careful.

The Principle of Multiplication: Every thought we harbor, every word we speak, and every decision we make carries an order of multiplication [19:20]. Our daily postures leave a legacy that ripples outward, multiplying either negativity or righteousness down through our generational lineages.

The Legacy of Walking with God: Noah was not chosen because he had elite credentials, architectural training, or an impressive resume. His defining legacy was beautifully simple: he walked with God [17:12]. When you prioritize walking closely with God, you carry His presence into every room you enter, acting as a delivery system of grace, peace, and curse-breaking transformation for your family.

Worship Unlocks Promises: The very first action Noah took after stepping off the ark into a wiped-out world was constructing an altar of sacrifice [41:53]. True worship is a heart fully aligned with the Creator. When we choose to worship through our storms and transitions, it unlocks covenant promises that extend far beyond ourselves.

A Challenge for the Week Ahead: Preachers can't walk with God for you, and a Sunday worship service can't substitute for daily intimacy. How is the quality of your personal walk with God when no one else is looking? Commit to waking up each day seeking His presence first.

It’s Sunday.
It’s time.

Today we continue The Script with a message called:

THE BROKEN BOW
Genesis 6–9

This isn’t just a story about Noah, a flood, an ark, and a rainbow.

This is about judgment and mercy.
Wrath and rescue.
A world undone by sin…
and a God who still makes a way.

The rainbow was never just decoration in the sky.
It was a weapon turned away.
A promise from God.
A reminder that grace is still greater than the storm.

Bring somebody with you.
Come expectant.
Come ready.

God still keeps His promises.
God still rescues.
God still saves.

There are some moments in life that you do not really know how to process while you are living them. You just breathe. You pray. You watch. You wait.

You try to be strong because people need you to be strong. But inside, you are shaking.

That is the tension so many of us live in. We know what is true in our heads, but our hearts are still trying to catch their breath. We are used to carrying others, used to showing up for the crisis, but then suddenly, the unknown walks right into your own living room. The sermon isn't theoretical anymore. It’s real time. It’s your life.

And the unknown is loud. Fear is loud. The "what ifs" are loud.

But I am learning all over again that faith does not mean you never feel fear. Faith means you know where to take your fear. There is a massive difference between fear having a voice and fear having the throne.

Surrender sounds holy until it has a specific name attached to it. It’s easy to talk about when everything is normal, but real faith is standing in the hallway of uncertainty and whispering, “God, I trust You,” while your stomach is still in knots.

If you are walking through something right now that has made you afraid, you are not faithless. If you love Jesus but still feel completely overwhelmed, you are not failing. God is not offended by your weakness; He meets us right there in the middle of it.

Gospel Life family, as your Pastor, I just want to say thank you.

This week has reminded me again what church is supposed to look like.

Not just a service, a building, and not just songs, sermons, and Sundays. Church looks like people loving each other when life gets heavy.

It looks like texts that say, “We are praying.” It looks like phone calls, check-ins, hugs, tears, and quiet encouragement. It looks like people caring without needing every detail. It looks like a church family stepping close instead of standing at a distance.

Vanessa and I have felt your love. Jacob has felt your prayers. Our family has felt covered, cared for, and carried.

And I just want you to know how much that means to us.

As a pastor, I get to walk with people through hard days, pray with families, sit in heavy moments, and remind people that they are not alone. But this week, you reminded us that we are not alone either.

That is the beauty of the body of Christ.

When one hurts, we hurt together, when one carries weight, we help carry it, when one family is walking through something hard, the church becomes family in the deepest way.

This is what church looks like.

It looks like love with skin on it, it looks like compassion that shows up, it looks like prayer that covers, it looks like people who care deeply and love faithfully.

Gospel Life, we love you. We are thankful for you. And we are grateful beyond words to be part of a church family that knows how to love people well.
