It’s easy to focus on the people who are already in the room.

Jesus teaches us to notice the person who isn’t.

In Luke 15, the shepherd leaves the ninety-nine to go looking for one lost sheep.

That’s what real pursuit looks like.

It means we don’t simply wait and hope people find their way to us. We notice. We care. We reach out.

Take a look around your life today.

Who might God be asking you to pursue instead of waiting for them to come to you?

Yesterday we talked about building a church that never loses sight of the one.

So here’s your challenge for this week:

Think of one specific person God has placed in your life who needs the hope, love, and grace of Jesus.

Write their name down.

Then pray for them by name every day this week.

Ask God to work in their life. Ask Him to give you compassion for them. Ask Him to open a door for you to reach toward them.

You don’t have to reach everyone this week.

Start with one.

As this week comes to an end, think back to the challenge we started with:

Who was your one?

Who did God put on your heart?

And did you take the step?

Maybe it felt significant. Maybe it seemed incredibly small.

Either way, never underestimate what God can do with a simple yes.

So as you head into the weekend:

Go with the compassion of Jesus.

Have the courage to say yes when God calls.

And walk with the confidence that God has already equipped you for the work He has placed in front of you.

You are not just watching God’s mission.

You are part of it.

Go make an impact.

Amen.

This one can challenge the church without making serving sound like another obligation.

Post:

Jesus didn’t say the harvest was small.

He said it was plentiful.

There are people all around us who need hope, encouragement, community, prayer and the love of Jesus.

And God’s plan for reaching them has always involved His people.

Not just pastors.

Not just church staff.

Not just the people who feel especially “qualified.”

All of us.

1 Peter 2:9 says we have been chosen to show others the goodness of God.

That means your gifts matter.
Your story matters.
Your availability matters.

There is a place for you in God’s mission.

The question is simply:

Will you say yes?

📖 Matthew 9:37–38 • 1 Peter 2:9

Before Jesus talked about the size of the harvest, Scripture tells us something important:

He saw the people.

And when He saw them, He was moved with compassion.

It can be easy to move through our days seeing crowds instead of people.

The person behind the register.
The coworker having a rough week.
The neighbor we barely know.
The family member who seems distant.
The person sitting alone.

Compassion begins when we slow down long enough to see people the way Jesus does.

So here’s a question for today:

Who have you been passing by that God may be asking you to notice?

When Jesus looked at the crowds, He saw a harvest that was plentiful—but the workers were few.

And sometimes we read that passage and immediately start praying:

“God, send somebody.”

Send someone to help.
Send someone to serve.
Send someone to reach them.
Send someone who knows what they’re doing.

But what if part of God’s answer to that prayer is you?

You are not just watching God’s mission happen around you.

You are part of it.

There are people God has placed in your workplace, your neighborhood, your family and your everyday routine that you may be uniquely positioned to reach.

You don’t need a platform.

You just need a willingness to say yes.

Yesterday we talked about what it means to Say Yes to God’s mission.

So before the week gets busy, here’s your challenge:

Ask God to show you one person in your harvest.

Maybe it’s a coworker.
A neighbor.
A friend.
Someone in your family.
Someone you see all the time but rarely stop to really notice.

Then take one small step of compassion toward them this week.

Send the text. Start the conversation. Buy the coffee. Offer the help. Sit and listen. Pray with them.

You don’t have to change the whole world this week.

Just ask God, “Who is my one?”

Then say yes.

Samson’s enemies thought his story was finished.

He had failed. He had lost his strength. He was humiliated and imprisoned.

But tucked inside one small verse are five powerful words:

“The hair on his head began to grow again.”

Restoration had already started before anyone could see what God was doing.

Whatever your situation looks like right now, don’t confuse a painful chapter with the end of the story.

God is not done.
