🌬️ Born of the Spirit

Jesus told Nicodemus, “You must be born again.”

Not improved.
Not reformed.
Not simply more religious.

Born Again.

Just as physical birth brings us into physical life, spiritual birth brings us into spiritual life.

The Christian life doesn’t begin with trying harder. It begins with receiving new life from God.

You don’t become a child of God by turning over a new leaf.

You become a child of God by receiving a new life.

“That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.” — John 3:6

What are you trusting today—your effort or His Spirit?

Today is the 5th Sunday of the month, which means we invited our families to worship together as a family:

🕊️ No Kids Church
🍞 Communion together as the local Body of Christ
🎨 And yes... coloring sheets for our young artists!

Today's coloring sheets tie into our message, Born of the Spirit, and were created with a little help from AI.

Now, here's the challenge...

👀 Can you spot the funny things?

Let's just say AI doesn't always get everything right. There may be a few surprises hidden in the pages!

So here's what we'd love for you to do:

✅ Color your picture
✅ Take a photo of it
✅ Upload it to Facebook
✅ Tag Hillside Bethel Ministries

We'll be watching to see your masterpieces—and to find out who discovers the most interesting AI "creative decisions!"

Have fun, be creative, and let's see your work!

What does it really mean to be "born again"?

Many people think Christianity is about becoming a better person. Jesus taught something much deeper: we must be born of the Spirit.

In Week 1 of our new series, Honoring the Spirit, we'll explore the Holy Spirit's role in salvation, the new birth, and what Scripture means when it says we are baptized into the Body of Christ by one Spirit.
The Christian life doesn't begin with self-improvement.

It begins with new life.

Join us this Sunday as we discover what it means to be: Born by Him. Filled by Him. Obedient to Him.

Before our services today, I want to say just a word about why we're calling this series Honoring the Spirit.

The Bible tells us that we can respond to the Holy Spirit in different ways. Ephesians 4:30 says:

"And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God..."

To grieve means to bring sorrow. It means to resist what He is trying to do in our lives. 1 Thessalonians 5:19 says:

"Do not quench the Spirit."

To quench means to extinguish a fire. It means to suppress or ignore His work. But over the next three weeks, we're going to focus on a different response.

Not grieving Him.
Not quenching Him.
But honoring Him.

Honoring His presence. Honoring His work. Honoring His voice. Honoring the One who gives us life, fills us daily, and leads us in obedience.

And today, we're going to begin where the Christian life begins—with the miracle of being Born of the Spirit.

We hope you can join us this morning.

💧 NEW SERIES BEGINS THIS SUNDAY! 🕊️

What does it mean to be born of the Spirit?
What does it mean to be filled with the Spirit?
And what does it look like to walk in obedience to the Spirit?

Join us for our new three-week series:

HONORING THE SPIRIT
Born by Him. Filled by Him. Obedient to Him.

Over the next three Sundays, we'll explore the work of the Holy Spirit in the life of every believer—from the new birth, to daily spiritual growth, to publicly identifying with Jesus through water baptism.

📅 June 14 – Baptism Sunday
Baptism is a powerful public declaration that Jesus Christ has changed your life. It doesn't save us—Jesus does—but it boldly proclaims that we belong to Him.

If you have trusted Christ and would like to be baptized on June 14, please reach out to Pastor Kevin as soon as possible. We'd love to talk with you and help you take this important next step in your faith journey.
