Trust Yourself, unconditionally. The weak minded will try to convince you that people cannot be trusted. They will go on and on about the betrayers and back stabbers.

In reality, however, these people lack a fundamental trust in themselves. And rather than doing the internal work to restore their relationship to themselves, they would prefer to blame others in an attempt to justify their flimsy roots.

Trust Yourself! Believe in your destiny and its ability to guide you along the path of fulfillment. Your ori did not choose to come into a world of desolation, lonliness and isolation.

Most Importantly, I want you to recognize the inextricable link between trust and risk. The greater your trust, the greater risk you'll be willing to take. The greater the risk, the greater the reward.

So, greatness begins with trust.

Call upon your destiny daily and affirm the blessings ori selected for you at the moment of prenatal choice. This is what I pray for myself and all of my clients:

Ori, the blessings you chose in the beginning, I beg you to choose them again today. The long life you chose, the prosperity you chose, the good companions you chose, the victory you chose, I beg you, please choose them again today.

This prayer will gradually increase your self confidence. It will slowly reprogram you to think about all the innate blessings you have enjoyed since your inception. I invite you to add it to your prayers for thirty days.

Recite this prayer for thirty days and you will experience a deeper sense of trust in yourself, which will make it easier for you to trust others.

Where do I start? That is the million dollar question! What do I do next? That's the two million dollar question!
Getting things started is a real challenge. Keeping things going sometimes seems impossible.

This is why having a practice is so important. On the mast basic level, having a solid practice means you always have something to do. You know what time to get up. You know how to focus your meditations and prayers. You know what offerings to make. You know what to wear, what to eat and what to avoid, all according to the structure provided by your practice.

In a more advanced way, having a practice conditions your mind to anticipate the various elements in a system. Your practice programs you to look for patterns in everything you do. Having a solid practice makes it easier to be self motivated and disciplined.

In the Orisa Lifestyle Academy, I teach African Americans the virtues of maintaining a spiritual practice. Instead of beads, pots and titles, my students establish habits of mind, heart and body that will sustain them for generations to come.
