We are men, women, children, and youth who come together to experience strength and hope in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We are a safe place where you can find peace and serenity. We are a place to rest your mind from the endless stream of doom and destruction all about. We welcome new friends who will join us in a commitment to spiritual growth with tolerance and diversity. We welcome you t
o become an integral part of our mission as each of us utilizes our unique talents in the service of the Lord. We invite you to join us in fulfilling the Mission our Lord gave to all who Love Him - To make Disciples for the Lord Jesus Christ. We work with the eight other United Methodist Churches in Meigs County through the Meigs County United Methodist Parish in order to provide opportunities for "hands-on" ways to share our faith. What We Believe-
We believe that the primary authority for the Christian journey, for Christian thought, and for Christian action is Holy Scripture. We believe that the Bible was twice inspired: once when it was written and again when we read it. We believe that our mission comes from our Lord who tells us to make Disciples for Jesus Christ. All our preaching and teaching is grounded in Scripture, informed by Christian tradition, enlivened by personal experience and tested by reason. We believe in God-expressed as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We area part of the church universal. All persons are welcome to attend our churches, receive Holy Communion and be baptized and admitted into membership. We are all called to minister where Christ would have us to work to free others. We believe that God's grace is the unearned and loving action of God in our daily lives. God's grace exists everywhere. Despite any circumstances, we are brought into life by a just and loving God. We are people who lead with our hearts, keep our minds open, and welcome everyone who comes through our doors. Our Dream For The Future
We at Decatur United Methodist Church are building upon a firm foundation that began in the early 1800's as Methodist Circuit Riders brought the Gospel to the Indians and Settlers in this area. From the time our church began we have had a calling to reach out to all who are in this area inviting them to join with us in worshiping and serving the Lord. We believe that God has given us a new vision of how we can more effectively help more people become disciples of the Lord. Our new addition will allow us to have classrooms and facilities to expand our ministries to better meet the needs of our neighbors. If you are looking for a church that meets people with open hearts, open minds, and open doors that everyone may know God's love, mercy and grace, then we invite you to join with us in Sharing the Dream of being such a church. How To Join-
If you would like to become a member of our church we invite you to talk with the Pastor. Persons who have never joined a church are invited to confess their sinfulness to God, seek His forgiveness and be saved by His grace. We would ask you to profess your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior. Baptism is the door through which all persons enter the church. If you have been baptized in another church, we accept your baptism because we believe that it is God that is baptizing. God's actions do not need repeating, they are forever. You would be asked to declare your desire to be a part of this congregation of God's church by committing yourself to uphold it with your prayers, your witness, your presence, your gifts, and your service.
