Meet our new Children’s Director Devon!

We are starting a new feature on our Grace in Action page where we feature the women of Decatur First Church of the Nazarene. We ask some questions and get to know each other. Maybe you'll be next! But first lets get to know our Children's director Devon Thomas.

Where were you born and where did you grow up?
•Born in Springfield. Grew up in Ramsey then moved to Taylorville in High School.

Do you have siblings?
•Older Brother

Who influenced you the most growing up?
•My grandma

What did you want to be when you grew up?
•Nurse

What is your current living situation? Married? Kids? Grandkids? Job?
•Married with 4 kids, Children’s Director at D1Naz

What is the thing you feel most confident about, or doing,? Example: cooking, relationships, skill, etc.
•Being a mom

Do you have a super power and if so what is it?
•Multitasking!

What would your best day look like?
•I like spending the day with my family at the lake.

Are you a traveler or a homebody?
Mountains, sea shore, or city explorer?
•Both! I like being home but also like the Mountains and Ocean.

If you were a season, which would you be and why?
•Fall, I love fall colors and Thanksgiving

What job would you be horrible at?
•Being a lead pastor, I have stage fright 😂

What is your favorite guilty pleasure? Food? Activity? Etc?
•Probably TV!

How did you come to Jesus and what is the best part of being a daughter of the KING?
•My babysitter brought me to church as a kid. Then I found youth group as a teen and have been walking with Jesus ever since. He has been the most consistent thing in my life.

What talent or skill do you bring to the Church body
•I love working with kids and their families.

YAY!! We are so excited to have Mrs. Devon with us as our new Children's Director! She will start on March 2nd!

Hello Church Family,

We are SO EXCITED to announce that Devon Thomas has accepted the Children's Director position here at D1Naz! Devon is the former director of Camp One Way and has served as our bookkeeper at D1Naz for the past 9 months! (We had a gem right under our nose!)

Devon will be starting on Monday, March 2nd and you can meet her husband, Ben and their 4 children the following Sunday! (See attached picture for a slightly dated picture of their family 😉 )

I would be remiss if I didn't say a HUGE Thank you to Mrs. Holly and all of our D1Kids volunteers who have stepped up and led over the past year as we prayed over this search. We are so very grateful for you and all the time you have invested and continue to invest in our children. You're amazing and the Kingdom is richer and deeper because of all the ways you give of yourself to our children!

**Also, this means we will be looking for a new bookkeeper if you know of anyone who would be interested in this position (it averages about 5-10 hours a week).**
