📖 What if the verse you’ve always quoted doesn’t mean exactly what you think it means?

This September at Community Church of DeBary, we’re starting a new sermon series:

…YOU’RE READING [IT] WRONG…

We’ve all read a Bible verse, heard it quoted, or seen it on a coffee mug and thought, “I know what that means.” But when we pull a verse out of its story, culture, audience, or place in Scripture, it can be surprisingly easy to miss what God’s Word is actually saying.

Because context changes what you see.

Throughout September, we’ll learn a simple method called CLEAR to help us slow down, look deeper, and understand Scripture in context:

C — Consider: What does it say?
L — Locate: See where it fits.
E — Explore: Understand their world.
A — Ask: Discover what it meant.
R — Respond: Live it in our world.

You don’t need to be a Bible scholar. Just bring your Bible or Bible App on your phone, your questions, and a willingness to look again.

Don’t just read a verse. Read the story.

Join us Sundays at 9:00 or 11:00 AM throughout September.

There’s no such thing as a perfect family. We concluded our series on “18 Summers.” Pastor Mike shared some valuable tips and guidance on how to navigate life with family. Remember to pray, release, ask before giving advice, and above all, love.

📣 WE’RE HIRING: Part-Time Children’s Ministry Coordinator | DeBary, FL

Community Church of DeBary is looking for a Children’s Ministry Coordinator to lead and grow our ministry for children from newborn through 5th grade.

We’re looking for someone who loves Jesus, loves children and families, and enjoys developing and encouraging volunteers. This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in children’s ministry, education, childcare, volunteer leadership—or related transferable experience.

Position highlights:
• Part-time, approximately 15–20 hours per week
• Flexible scheduling for many weekday hours
• Sunday mornings required
• Lead and develop children’s ministry volunteers
• Create safe, welcoming, faith-filled environments for kids
• Work with families and help children grow in their relationship with Jesus

We continue our August series, discussing 18 summers. Pastor Mike led us through Deuteronomy, Colossians, Mark, and Philippians, focusing on physical habits. One aspect of this is “Be generous.” Our volunteers generously give their time every Sunday. Thank you for all you do, and we look forward to seeing you next Sunday.
