On the Feast of Pentecost, let us ask the Holy Spirit for the grace to become instruments for God. Blessed Solanus Casey was a dedicated instrument of God and allowed the Holy Spirit to work through him, whether it was at the door of the Monastery or starting the Capuchin Soup Kitchen, Blessed Solanus was filled with the Holy Spirit!

In 1945, when the atomic bomb exploded over Hiroshima, a small Jesuit rectory only eight blocks from ground zero somehow remained standing.

Inside were several Jesuit priests, including Father Hubert Schiffer. Despite being extremely close to the epicenter of one of the most devastating explosions in human history, they survived with surprisingly minimal long-term effects.

Doctors and scientists reportedly struggled to explain it.

What made the story even more remarkable was the priests’ testimony about their way of life.

They faithfully prayed the Rosary every day and lived according to the message of Our Lady of Fatima.

Father Schiffer later said:

“We believe that we survived because we were living the message of Fatima. We lived and prayed the Rosary daily in that home.”

In the middle of unimaginable destruction, many Catholics saw their survival as a sign of Our Lady’s protection and a powerful reminder of the strength of prayer.

Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us.

Jesus told St. Faustina: “Encourage souls to say the Chaplet which I have given you… It pleases Me very much when it is said for the dying. They will receive the grace of My mercy in the final hour. Even the most hardened sinner, if he recites this Chaplet even once, will receive grace from My infinite mercy.” (Diary 687)

At the hour of death, the Chaplet of Divine Mercy becomes a great shield of protection. Jesus promised that souls for whom this Chaplet is prayed will be granted His mercy — often receiving the grace of a happy and peaceful death, even when they seem farthest from God.

This is why praying the Chaplet for the dying is one of the most merciful acts we can offer. Whether for a loved one, for someone we don’t know, or for all the souls leaving this world today, our prayers can open the floodgates of God’s compassion.

Let us not miss this beautiful opportunity to bring souls to Jesus’ Merciful Heart.
🙏 Pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy today for the dying.

“By this means, you will comfort Me in the bitterness of My Passion.” — Jesus

Satan once said to Padre Pio: “If you don’t leave that confessional, I’ll kill you.”
Padre Pio replied, “Do your worst.”

He stayed for hours, saving souls. And Satan couldn’t touch him.

This story shows what real courage looks like in the spiritual life. Padre Pio knew the confessional was not just a place to talk. It was where souls were being pulled out of sin and brought back to God. That is why he stayed, even when he was threatened.

Scripture reminds us, “Resist the devil and he will flee from you” (James 4:7). Padre Pio lived that. He did not rely on his own strength. He trusted that God’s grace was stronger than any fear. The enemy can tempt, accuse, and try to scare us, but he has no power over a soul that is rooted in Christ.

This also shows how important confession is. It is not optional. It is a place of real healing, where Jesus forgives sins and restores peace. Padre Pio stayed because he knew what was at stake.

Most of us will not face threats like that. But we do face pressure to avoid confession, delay repentance, or stay comfortable in sin.

💬 What is keeping you from going back to confession right now?

🕊️ Today is the feast of Blessed Chiara Luce Badano, a young Italian girl who died at the age of 19 from a rare form of bone cancer. During her short life, she was full of love for Christ which developed especially after she joined the Focolare Movement at age 9. When she was diagnosed with cancer, she refused all morphine so as to be lucid and intentional about offering her suffering to Christ. Her last words were, “Ciao Mama. Be happy, because I am.” Pope Benedict XVI beatified her in 2010.
