My midweek message tonight was on "Luck or Divine Providence"
The word Luck is not found in the bible but it is certainly used freely in our vocabulary. And at one time or another we have done something that we hoped would result in good luck (knock on wood, wish upon a shooting star, wear a lucky cap, etc) Many think certain objects result in bringing good luck (rabbits foot, 4-leaf clover, horse shoe over the door, etc.) Well the scriptures indicates that luck doesn't exist. That God rules and controls all events. As Christians we are blessed and that is God's divine providence, (its not luck) Scriptures to read Ecc.9:11 ; Prov. 16:33 ; Psalms 115:3 ; James 1:17 ; Prov. 16:9 ; Psalms 33:11-22

So as you go hunting Saturday rather than wish you good luck, I hope you are successful in your endeavors and that your blessed of God.
I wish you had been with us to hear the full message. Stay safe !! BJH

Thanks to all that was faithful to mid-week service. Last night I spoke on the subject of "Desperation". Life sometimes throws things in our path that's beyond our control. Sometimes it's only a bump in the road of life. But then there are times when one has few or no options, at such times a person can be pushed to a place of desperation. Such as health issues or financial crisis, family issues, etc. This could be either a worldly view or a spiritual view. From a spiritual view one facing desperate situations will seek God. He is the miracle worker, our provider, our help in times of trouble. Many people serve as examples in the bible such as king David, Blind Bartimaeus, Jarius, an unnamed woman with an blood issue, even a backslide king named Saul. In times of desperation, one is pushed from their comfort zone. At such times one may do the unthinkable. The world in which we live is filled with desperate people. Perhaps you've been there or maybe your there now.

Psalm 61:1 (To the chief Musician upon Neginah, A Psalm of David.) Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. 2 From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

I wish you had been with us. Be encouraged! BJH

This rose has been late in blooming as the season comes to an end. But at least it made it ! This can be true in a spiritual sense for some who at last have gave their hearts to God. The season is quickly coming to an end and at any moment the trumpet can sound and we will be gone. Please dont wait any longer, come to Jesus.

My mid-week message tonight was "The portrait of a false convert". (Acts 8:9-24) While Simon had fooled everyone prior to hearing of the gospel message and it appears that he even fooled Phillip after he is said to believe was baptized in water. But eventually in time it would be revealed what was hidden in his heart. Peter told him to repent, that is heart was not right in the sight of God. The fact remains unto this day that not everyone who says that "they are saved" are truly saved. They may look, talk & act as a Christian. But that does not mean that they are saved. God sees the heart.
Mat. 13:24-30 In the parable of the wheat & tares (which also look alike) Jesus said let them grow together. But there would be a time in which they will be separated.
Make sure your ready ! BJH

My message this morning was titled "The Art of Making Excuses". At what point does making an excuse become a lie? How will an excuse be viewed before God on judgement day? And yes we give account of every word we speak. (Mat.12:36-37) my opening text came from =Luke 9:57-62.
