As we begin a summer journey through Paul’s letter to the Romans, we discover that a right relationship with God depends entirely on faith in Jesus Christ rather than personal effort. And biblical faith is different than presuming upon God: while presumption hopes for a good outcome based on what we imagine is best, biblical faith trusts in words that God has said and promises He has made.

Thank you to all of the congregation members of Hope who provided food or helped to serve at the Freedom House. We prepared slow cooker meals and donated some slow cookers as gifts to the families for when they move out of Freedom House! A warm meal is always good😉👏🏼

On this Trinity Sunday we confess the mystery at the heart of our faith: one God who makes Himself known as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. In the beginning, the Father speaks creation into being and the Spirit hovers over the waters, bringing order and life. In the fullness of time, the Son is sent to save what was lost, reconciling the world to God through His death and resurrection. And now, the Holy Spirit continues God’s work in all those who are baptized into the triune name—giving new birth, sustaining faith, and drawing us into the life of the Triune God, who still creates, saves, and gives life to us and to the world.

At the celebration of Pentecost, we rejoice that God pours out His Holy Spirit as a gift—not just to a select few, but to all His people. In the wilderness, the Spirit who rested on Moses was shared with the elders, showing that God’s work was never meant to be carried by one alone. On Pentecost, the Spirit is poured out on all flesh, empowering ordinary men and women to speak of God’s mighty deeds. All who belong to Jesus have the Spirit’s presence and power for a purpose: to build up the Church and bless to the world around us.

God bless your Wednesday. Here is a description of the theme for this coming Sunday…

The ascension of Jesus can feel like bittersweet news—good news for Jesus, but sad news for us left down here on the ground. But when we fit Jesus’ ascension back into the bigger story that the Scriptures tell, we discover that it is wonderful news for us! At the highest level, we have a friend who commands the universe, who speaks on our behalf before the Father, who sends us the ultimate Helper, and who prepares a place for us.

“Resurrection Hope in the Face of Suffering” (1 Peter 3:13-22)
Because Christ suffered, died, and was raised to life, we can endure suffering with confidence, bear witness with gentleness, and live in the power of His victory. Our baptism joins us to His story and fills our lives with real hope.

A blessed Wednesday to you! Here are some details for this coming Sunday, along with a sermon “teaser”...

Christ is the chosen and precious cornerstone upon which God is building something amazing—His own dwelling place from which He desires to bring His blessing to the whole world. And by His grace, He chooses to include you and me in this project. The sermon theme is “Resurrection Identity: Living Stones Built on the Cornerstone,” based on 1 Peter 2:2-10.
