We are excited to again host the Advent Mornings of Reflection Series beginning this Saturday! This annual tradition breaks open the Advent Sunday Mass readings to help us better appreciate and prepare ourselves for the Advent season and the coming of Christmas. Sessions will be held from 9-10 a.m. on the Saturdays of Dec. 2, 9, 16 and 23 (following the 8:30 a.m. Mass). The Norbertine Center for Spirituality at St. Norbert Abbey invites you to join us for Eight Beatitudes ... and Six More, a three-day retreat from Nov. 10-12 that will be led by Fr. James Neilson, O. Praem. The deadine to register is this Friday (Oct. 27); to sign up, please visit norbertines.org/events. This retreat will focus on the eight blessings revealed in the Gospel of St. Matthew (5:1-11) and the six new beatitudes for the modern Christian (offered by Pope Francis in 2016). Through the lens of sacred scripture and the visual arts, within the rhythm of daily prayer, meditation and the celebration of the Eucharist, we will encounter God’s messengers of mercy and tenderness and 14 ways of life that unite us more closely to the heart of Christ yesterday, today and tomorrow. The retreat starts at 4 p.m. on Nov. 10 and includes insightful presentations, delicious meals, the opportunity to explore our beautiful 160-acre grounds, and time to relax and reflect in our renovated guest rooms that now feature private bathrooms, air conditioning and new furniture. Today is the feast day of St. Norbert, founder of our order. St. Norbert, pray for us! This hand-carved wooden statue of St. Norbert, part of a collection of statues on display at St. Norbert Abbey, was designed and created by Josef Albl and sons of Albl Oberammergau woodcarvers in Germany.
