We celebrated one of our favorite traditions at New Hope U.M.C. this past Saturday evening. A group of us came together and went throughout the DeKalb community singing Christmas Carols. We enjoyed it so much that we continued to sing for the elderly and inform for two and one half hours without stopping to rest. It was wonderful!

As we get closer to some cooler weather, it is time to start thinking about beginning a weekly Bible Study. I will be glad to hear any suggestions for subject matter.

On Sunday, May 17 at 2:30 PM, Cary Eldridge will host his annual concert benefitting Relay for Life at New Hope UMC on Old Jackson Rd in DeKalb. Finger foods and fellowship following the concert. A love offering will be taken but the event is free and open to all.

john 15:13 says that no one has greater love than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. If you have never quite understood what this looks like in our daily lives, I invite you to consider MOM.
Moms have a way of showing this kind of love. They love you no matter what, they are the best friend you will ever have, and they have given their lives for their children.
How many are able to appreciate what Mom has done before they themselves come to that time ? Has your Mom ever aggravated you simply by trying to love you? did you appreciate that love at that moment?
As imperfect as it may be, Mothers love probably comes closer to the love Jesus has for us than any I can think of. She literally lays down(gives up) her life for her children. Even if she won't let you forget it!!!
Make sure Mom knows how much you love her...
