Allen and seven believers, including Mrs. Allen, Dayton First Congregational Church was incorporated in 1882. The original church was built in 1880 by followers of the Universalists who disbanded and sold the building to the Congregationalists. In 1903 a large new house

of worship was constructed on the present site. The education annex was added in 1954-55. Designated-Term Pastor Profile

Our first recipient of Rx eyeglasses from First Congregational Church- UCC donated by our members. She said thank you and appreciated the blessing. She found one after many tries that really fits her vision… a simple ministry for helping someone to see better

Day 6: One God

📖 Verse: One God of all, who is above all and through all and in all. (Eph. 4:6)

🙏🏾 Prayer: We confess with faith and worship you, Loving God, for you are in heaven beyond words, and on earth beyond understanding, through your Son, Jesus Christ. In your tender care, you are the beginning and fulfillment of everything. Glory forever to you, God, with the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Greetings, church! Sunday is a day of celebrating being church. We will pray some and sing some. We will talk about the beginning of Jesus’ ministry with the calling of two disciples. Jesus remind us that, “In the Land of Zebulun, land of Naphtali, on the road by the sea, across the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles— the people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, and for those who sat in the region and shadow of death light has dawned. At that time Jesus began to proclaim, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.” Repent means to turn around. We are called to turn around and to be the light in the world! As we approach the Season of Lent, we see that Jesus’s ministry is with all of us!

We will recognize my leaving for retirement and the Congregation will do the work of the church in our Annual Meeting. The word “liturgy “ means work of the people. When we gather our beloved community to worship, to say goodbye to a pastor, to talk together about reports and budgets, we are being the church and doing our work. After our work we will share pie together in the Fireside Room!

Join us at 11am in the Sanctuary to do the work of the people in song and word and community! All are welcome! God is with us!
