A Better New Year 5
Notes
I want to continue my New Years messages with a very important one that will help you, starting today, to be the best you can be and for the rest of the year.
4 things that will make or break you in 2025!
The first 2 are ;
Lack of Planning
Fear of Failure

"Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand." Isaiah 41:10

from the book of Matthew chapter 19, "With God all things are possible"!
From the book of Luke chapter 1; “For nothing will be impossible with God.”
From the book of Mark chapter 10; “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But not with God. Everything is possible with God.”
And of course from Romans chapter 8, "If God is for us, who can ever be against us?"
Our fears come from a lack of faith in God because He even says, "I will never leave you nor forsake you!" Hebrews 13:5
Our plans will never work well without trusting God or not believing He will help us!

And, the last 2 are;
Being Positively Contagious and Trusting God More
"And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise." Philippians 4:8
Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take."
Trusting God more is programmed into our hearts and can change defeat into victory very quickly!
Here again are the 4 things that will make or break us this new year;
Lack of Planning
Fear of Failure
Being Positively Contagious
Trusting God More
But, finally, I must remind everyone, we can't trust someone we don't know and don't believe in!
To know God is the easiest thing in the world to do because if God made it as difficult as jumping over a building or swimming across the Atlantic, no one would be saved.
Jesus said in the book of Matthew, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest."
He just says, come! He already did all the heavy lifting on the cross. All we have to do is come and surrender to His Lordship!

God bless you and share what you have learned today with others who need this message!

Celebrating Christmas is like eating ice cream! You usually don't eat ice cream everyday so when you have it, it is a special occasion. Sometimes you want a little extra to make it a little more special. So we add some M & M's or some chocolate syrup. Sometimes we want it as a banana split with the works! It's still the ice cream that makes it special.
In that same way, Christmas can be plain and simple or it can be extravagant. But just remember what makes it special!

This has been a year full of surprises and they haven't stopped!

We have put the church property up for sale and will be leaving this ministry after 15 years at Pathways and almost 34 years in ministry in 4 different churches. With the closing and sale of the church property, the proceeds will go to paying off final expenses and the remainder to the Trinity River Baptist Association as well as a large donation to our missionaries in South Africa.

We are already hearing from folks that we can't leave or what will they do about a church to attend!

First, we are only changing locations because we will never retire from ministry. Second, what better time to start a new church? Brother David Williams told me that it's better to start a new church than to try to revive an old one. A new church will attract new folks as an older one has a hard time trying to reach new folks. Churches need to change with the times and with all the things happening in our world today, a change is absolutely necessary!

May God bless you and yours with an incredible Christmas as well as a bright New Year!

Here is the latest from Pathways!

We had our 15th annual Adventure Rally and even though we had some really bad weather, it was a great turnout with lots of kids and lots of families too!
The Gospel was given after our meal and 3 prayed for salvation!

We are not placing our services on Facebook any more as we believe God wants us to meet together as it says in Hebrews,
"And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near." Hebrews 10:25

We've had a few complaints but we've also had a few show back up at church! I had shared this with other pastors but they are afraid of loosing those who watch when they want.
I guess it's not very up to date but I don't like the idea that it is a performance and not a worship.
I'm open to hearing from you and your take on the idea.

Well, my prayer is for you all to have an awesome Thanksgiving and hope to hear from you soon,

Kim & Brenda

We will no longer be placing our services on Facebook. We encourage everyone to prioritize attending Bible study as well as the family church services.

"And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near." Hebrews 10:25 NLT

Here is our Monthly newsletter for you to enjoy and share!

We also need to pray for our missionary, Johannes Ramashala as he has been hospitalized with kidney and bladder failure. We lift him up to our God right now and ask for healing so that he can continue his ministry in South Africa.

Here are the notes for tomorrows Worship message;

Ministry
“I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more. You have already been pruned and purified by the message I have given you. Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me." John 15:1-4

“Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. Anyone who does not remain in me is thrown away like a useless branch and withers. Such branches are gathered into a pile to be burned. But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted! When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father." John 15:5-8

"You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name." John 15:16

"And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near." Hebrews 10:25

"You must warn each other every day, while it is still “today,” so that none of you will be deceived by sin and hardened against God." Hebrew 3:13

"So speak encouraging words to one another. Build up hope so you’ll all be together in this, no one left out, no one left behind. I know you’re already doing this; just keep on doing it." 1 Thessalonians 5:10-11 The Message

“Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ.” Ephesians 4:11-12

You were created for serving God!
“We are God’s workmanship, created in Jesus Christ to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10

1 Corinthians 12

“But now I want to lay out a far better way for you." 1 Corinthians 12:31
Paul is referring to the next chapter in his letter to the Corinthian church. Chapter 13 called "The Love Chapter".
I challenge everyone to read that chapter after we close today's service!

"Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ." Ephesians 4:12

The responsibilities of church members are just as vital as those of pastors and teachers, and together, creating a strong faith community inside the church that goes outside the church to perform ministry.

Here ae the notes for tomorrows Bible study at 9:30 at Pathways

Why Study The Bible 15
Let's look what Jesus said in John 15;

Jesus goes on to say;

Jesus finishes His teaching by saying;
"You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name." John 15:16

Look at this from the book of Hebrews;

That's very difficult to do unless you are face to face!

"For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them.” Matthew 18:20

Okay, instead of saying why should we study the Bible, we should say Let's study the Bible together!

"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." 2 Timothy 3:16-17

"Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path."
Psalm 119:105

"Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful." Joshua 1:8

"For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide, we might have hope." Romans 15:4

By reading, studying the Bible, and applying it to our lives, we can become so familiar with the truth, that a lie will not have a chance to deceive us.

Here are the notes for tomorrows message

Discipleship
“I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.” Psalms 119:11

“For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.” Hebrews 4:12
When we are discipled, we are to become like Jesus.
And, only God’s word can change us but not on the outside but from the inside out.

One of the requirements to become a disciple is deny self

“No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and be enslaved to money. Matthew 6:24
If God is to rule in our lives, then our will must be made submissive to His. We must be willing to give up anything in life in order to please God.

"And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect." Romans 12:1-2

"Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need." Matthew 6:33

And here is a tough scripture for everyone and at first, it seems impossible!

“If you want to be my disciple, you must, by comparison, hate everyone else—your father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even your own life. Otherwise, you cannot be my disciple. And if you do not carry your own cross and follow me, you cannot be my disciple.
“But don’t begin until you count the cost. For who would begin construction of a building without first calculating the cost to see if there is enough money to finish it? Otherwise, you might complete only the foundation before running out of money, and then everyone would laugh at you. They would say, ‘There’s the person who started that building and couldn’t afford to finish it!’ Or what king would go to war against another king without first sitting down with his counselors to discuss whether his army of 10,000 could defeat the 20,000 soldiers marching against him? And if he can’t, he will send a delegation to discuss terms of peace while the enemy is still far away. So you cannot become my disciple without giving up everything you own." Luke 14:25-33

"Either way, Christ’s love controls us. Since we believe that Christ died for all, we also believe that we have all died to our old life. He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them." 2 Corinthians 5:14-15

"Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me." Luke 9:23

"For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in his steps." 1 Peter. 2:21

Jesus said;
“Don’t imagine that I came to bring peace to the earth! I came not to bring peace, but a sword. ‘I have come to set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law." Matthew 10:34-35

"He went on a little farther and bowed with his face to the ground, praying, “My Father! If it is possible, let this cup of suffering be taken away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.” Matthew 26:39
