Happy Mother's Day from Trinity Presbyterian Church

Judge Alice O. McCollum recently retired following 18 years of service presiding over the Montgomery County Probate Court. She was the first black person elected judge of the Montgomery County Probate Court in 2003, and before that was the first woman, black or white, to be appointed and elected judge in the Dayton Municipal Court.

A champion of change, she tirelessly worked to make our Probate Court more efficient and responsive to the public’s needs. Her dedication to the children of Montgomery County goes far beyond her work in the courtroom, providing them not only with someone who would always fight for them, but also someone worthy of looking up to.

Here are just a few highlights of her nearly 20 years serving the families of Montgomery County.
• Presided over the adoption of more than 2,000 children
• Created a guardianship department to oversee the court’s more than 2,000 wards
• Updated and revised the rules attorneys and litigants follow when practicing in the Court

Thank you, Judge Alice O. McCollum!
