We are so proud!

United congratulates Rev. Dr. Luther Oconer on being elected a bishop in the Global Methodist Church during the denomination's General Conference, currently taking place in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Rev. Dr. Oconer previously served on the faculty of United Theological Seminary where he directed the Center for Evangelical United Brethren Heritage. He also taught in the areas of Methodist Studies, the Holiness Movement, the Pentecostal/Charismatic Movement, and church renewal. In 2025, Dr. Oconer returned to United as the presenter for the 14th annual Holy Spirit Seminar.

Speaking after his election with United's President, Rev. Dr. Mark Teasdale, Rev. Dr. Oconer said: "United took a chance on me when I was still pastoring. I am grateful to continue to be claimed by United."

Local Scout Jay Bragg has created an Eagle Scout Project designed to bring joy to those that need it most, hospitalized children. One toy can make a life changing hospital stay a little brighter. The goal is to bring joy and comfort to 500 children. Hope Church is supporting a donation bin for toy collection outside of of Hudson Hall. Information and gift lists are at the Welcome Center. Let's support this young man and his cause; donations will be accepted through August 31st.
