For the whole law can be summed up in this one command…
”Love your neighbor as yourself.” Galatians 5:14 NLT
* LoveMonkey Ministries exists to connect Christians with widows and single parents in their own neighborhoods, for the purpose of assisting with basic “neighborly” tasks and for establishing relationships for discipleship and evangelism.
* Jesus commanded His followers to love their
neighbors. He demonstrated a particular concern for broken families, where a parent (or parents), or a spouse is no longer around to help provide for the needs of the family. These people are often identified in scripture as widows and orphans.
* The United States has 13.6 million widows (American Association of Retired Persons, 2001) and an additional 13.7 million single parents who are raising nearly 22 million children (US Census Bureau, 2011). Of these, over 85% of the widows and over 82% of the custodial single parents are women.
* Meanwhile, churches in the US are full of people who are willing and eager to serve if they are shown a need and are given the opportunity and structure to help with the need.
* LoveMonkey connects these incomplete families with Christians in their own communities who want to help and want to share the love of God by being good neighbors. As a result,
• Families are assisted both physically and spiritually in a safe, loving environment.
• Christians get to “live out” their faith by serving identified needs in their own back yards, and by forming relationships with those that they serve.
• Churches benefit by having a structure and plan in place to serve in their communities, and they also have a way to begin a discipleship and evangelism relationship.
• Communities are strengthened by working together to resolve needs.
• Christ is glorified as the church carries out his command to love our neighbors. Helping Neighbors.
