"The Second Leap"

Sermon Notes:

Acts 3:6-8
*"A quantum leap is defined as "a sudden, massive change; a very big step forward.". People use this term to describe a huge and fast developmental impact." Synonyms: breakthrough, advancement, step forward, great strides, a big jump.
*Biblical joy is more than a passing feeling of happiness. Happiness is largely dependent on ideal circumstances, while joy is sustained no matter the circumstance. Biblical joy is also expressed outwardly, often with singing, shouting, and leaping.
*"Baby leaps" are when a child undergoes rapid physical and mental development. This rapid, intense, change often causes discomfort to the child, leading to behavior changes such as crying, clinginess, and crankiness. When God is about to cause us to leap forward, we may feel similar discomfort, as God is showing us that He's preparing to rapidly propel us into a new season.
*The lame man's legs were not working, but his hands were. The devil tries to make us focus on what we do not have, but God wants to use what you do have. When Peter sent God's power through the lame man, he grabbed him by the hand, and the Power went through His hands and into his legs.
*In biblical times, begging required an official license issued by the temple. Once he was healed, the once crippled man walked into the temple and turned in his begging license. You can't be healed and still beg. Healing means new responsibility. Being healed and delivered requires a change in behavior. You cannot go back to the where you were.
*"The miracle wasn't just that he could walk. The miracle was that he can finally walk away from there. It wasn't just, "I'm going to walk.". It was, "I'm going to use my legs to never go back to this place again."."
*You do not people's permission to leap forward, only God's.
*"The first leap, He [God] did it for me. The second leap, I'm doing it for myself. The first leap, He gave me the strength. The second leap, I'm going to walk with the strength He's given me."
Malachi 4:2
Psalm 18:29
*The Greek word for "leap" means: to spring up, like water
*Leaping reduces stress and releases happy hormones. It improves your coordination and increases your awareness. Leaping can burn up to 1,000 calories. Leaping is less stressful on your joints than jogging, but is three times more effective."
*"You must go from deliverance into a new dimension."

"Raising A Godly Generation Part 4: Worship God"

Sermon Notes:

Fear God. Love God. Obey God. Worship God.

Key Text: Deuteronomy 6:1-25

In the first part of the series, "Raising A Godly Generation", we discussed the importance of fearing God. "Fearing God brings wisdom and knowledge, divine protection, spiritual growth, blessings, and prolonged life." In the second part of the series, we discussed loving God. "Loving God means having a deep, personal relationship with Him, characterized by devotion, trust, and obedience to His will. Loving God also means that you spend time in His presence." In the third part of the series, we discussed obeying God. "Obeying God means willingly submitting to His authority, following His word, and aligning your actions, thoughts, and behavior with His will." In this fourth and final part of the series, we will discuss how to worship God.

What does it Mean to WORSHIP God?
*"True worship goes beyond the formal rituals or singing. It involves living an obedient life that aligns with God’s will. That is what it means to “truly” worship God. True worship is living a lifestyle that aligns with God's Word."
*True worship is honest, sincere, and comes from the heart and spirit.
*Psalm 95:6
*Psalm 96:9
*Luke 4:5-8

Worship As Sacrifice:
*Genesis 22
*Abraham's sacrifice was the precursor to the sacrifice God Himself would make of His Son, Jesus, near the same place, centuries later [2 Chronicles 3:1, John 3:16, John 8:56, Hebrews 11:17-19].
*Matthew 16:23-25
*"The requirement for praise is life. The requirement for worship is death."
*Sacrifice is worship. In the Old Testament they offered a sacrifice for worship. In the New Testament we are the living sacrifice of worship.
*Romans 12:1
*Worship rises above our shifting emotions. There are times when following God’s commands doesn’t align with how we feel, yet worship calls us to surrender those feelings in pursuit of His will. It’s a sacrifice of self for something greater.
*1 Peter 2:5
*John 4:23-24
*"The Father makes it relational. In order to truly worship God, you have to fear Him, love Him, and obey Him. That means that you have aligned yourself with the will of the Lord and you have decided that [you] want to be [His] child."
*Acts 17:30
*After Jesus had fasted forty days and forty nights in the wilderness, and had resisted the devil, He began to preach saying, "Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand" (Matthew 4:17). Flowing with God and godly living begins with repentance.
