Debbie Hickinbotham Collins So you don't think we should be doing works: That's not what Paul taught: Quote: Titus 3:1 Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work, Titus 3:8 This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men. Titus 3:14 And let our's also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful. That is not what the scriptures teach. We all do works but those works can never bring Life. One main reason is because LIFE is a person. It's not something we do. Jesus said He is the light of all men. You guys really got this work issue wrong!! So yes, we just don't believe and walk off and say the hell with service because we are saved by grace, but Israel had to work. That is the issue with all that bad teaching not seeing the different between justification verse Sanctification.

The true understanding of the Gospel that saves is being clouded by those who try to make 2 different eternal salvation messages for different group when it is but One! 1 Cor 15:1-4 is a summary! Jesus Himself summarized all the things that pertain to Himself!! John 5:39 KJV
Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
Luke 24:44-46 KJV
And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. [45] Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, [46] And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
He summarized all that up in law of Moses, the prophets, psalms. To get the full understanding, if a persons wants to know, all they would need to do is search the law of Moses, the prophets, in the psalms. 1 Cor 15:1-4 the same! How He died according to the scriptures, How he was buried according to the scriptures, How He rose the third day according to the scriptures!! Where? What scriptures? The Law of Moses, The Prophets, and The Psalms! It’s very sad 😞 what has happen to the misuse of the apostles Paul’s intention or 1 Cor 15:1-4! He had already taught the Corinthians from the law of Moses, the prophets and the Psalms. The reason can be clearly seen in the text why Paul even brought up the death buried and resurrection in the text. All one has to do is go to verse 11 and 12: quote: 1 Corinthians 15:11-12 KJV
Therefore whether it were I or they, so we preach, and so ye believed. [12] Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead?
It’s so clear why Paul open the chapter with that. By the way, Apostle Paul clearly state that he and the 12 was preaching that! There are some who do all they can to kick 🦵 the gospel of John out and replace God’s own testimony of His Son in the book of John and replace it was a summary that does not even tell who Christ is even thou those Corinthians had already knew all the facts! The purpose of the Gospel of John is a written record that all men can read and believe God’s own testimony concerning His Son Jesus Christ! John 20:28-31 KJV
And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. [29] Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. [30] And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: [31] But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

Shawniqua Goodman the true answer is that it’s not who are Apostles or prophets today in the dispensation of the Grace of God! The only Apostle today is the Word of God itself. It’s in Acts 28:28 when God commission the Word itself to go out to the World and I quote: Acts 28:28 KJV
Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it.
God had commission men who were Jews by the way during those 33 years of the Acts time period of scripture. The word Apostle is a Greek word that means one that has been commission and sent! The only written word from the start of the Acts time period was the Old Testament scriptures! The New Testament you hold in your hand did not exist. It was being lived out in real time! 2 Timothy 3:15 KJV
And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
During the 33 years of Acts, you had to be a Jew to be commission to teach the word! Romans 3:1-2 KJV
What advantage then hath the Jew? or what profit is there of circumcision? [2] Much every way: chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God.
Anyone during that Acts time period had to be call of God! Romans 10:14-15 KJV
How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? [15] And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
This was during the 33 years of Acts! There is so much more but today anyone can teach the word because the Word itself is the who have been commission by God to go out to the World!! To be honest, anyone today that is claiming God call them or commission them to preach or teach the word is lying! People teach and preach today because they desire to and are able! Remember all the individuals during the 33 years of the Acts time periods Jews and were commission by God and the Holy Spirit at that time was speaking directly through them. That is why Ananias and Safira die for not lying to Peter but lying to the Holy Spirit. God is not operating that way today in the dispensation of the Grace of God! The word itself is to teach faithful men who should be able to teach others! I would love to see Godly men teaching their own family’s without taking their own families every Sunday running down to some men standing in front of them claiming to be sheppard over them.

Kevin Harshman , First let me say that not understanding 1 Cor 15:1-4 is just a summary of the gospel is what is tripping up many right dividers to assume Peter and Paul is preaching different gospels for eternal life. They have given 1 Cor 15:1-4 the title the Gospel of the Grace of God for eternal life and labeled the 12's gospel the gospel of the Kingdom. That means faith plus work in their thinking. It's a dangerous thing not to understand God's word for what it's intended for in the context. I can't over emphasize the most important fact that the only written message concerning the salvation saving message was contain in the Old Testament scriptures. Jesus open those scriptures to the understanding of the 12 finally. Luke 24:44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. Luke 24:45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures. Jesus Christ summarizes all the prophesies concerning Him that are contained in the Old Testament by simply saying the things written in the law of Moses and the prophets. You have the same thing in 1 Cor 15:1-4. That is why you have the 3 How's! How He died according to the scriptures, How He was buried according to the scriptures, How He rose again according to the scriptures. Same exact thing Christ done in Luke 24!! Look what Paul said to Timiothy and I quote: 2 Timothy 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. This can't be any clearer about the Old Testament scriptures. So, it's very important How 1 Cor 15:1-4 is being taught. Let me finish with this very important point again. The only written scriptures pertaining to the Work of Christ was the Old Testament scriptures. Paul reminds young Timothy of that very thing! 2 Timothy 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. It was the Holy Spirit proclaiming the saving message through men who were call of God and they were the only ones who could proclaim it!! Romans 10:14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? Romans 10:15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, how beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace and bring glad tidings of good things! The salvation saving message would not be put in writing until God sends the same message to the Nations: Acts 28:28 Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it. So, Apostle John was commission to put it in writing!! John 20:29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. John 20:30 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: John 20:31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

1 Cor 15:1-4 is a summary. Paul was not trying to convert the converted. Look at the 3 How's in the verses. The book of John has the complete saving message from God concerning His Son Jesus Christ. 1 Cor 15:1-4 does not even tell you who He is or even that Jesus is the Son of God. If you would tell someone that Jesus died for their sins and the person would ask you who is Jesus, you would be completely stuck and would have to turn to the Gospel of John. You could put any bodies name in 1 Cor 15:1-4 and say they died for some one's sins. Paul was not trying to convey a plan of salvation to those whom he had already taught about the savior from the Old Testament scriptures. There was no written message during that time to proclaim Christ but commission men whom had been sent out from God to the people. It was not until the close of the 33 years of Acts that the salvation saving message was put in writing when the message was not being sent to the Nations: Acts 28:28 Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it. God commission John to put it in writing at the close of Acts. It has God's own testimony concerning His Son. We know longer has commission men like in the Acts period. The book of John even tells the reader why it was now written. Quote: John 20:28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My LORD and my God. End Quote. So, if you want the saving message, go read the Gospel of John, that is the main reason it was written. 1 Cor 15:1-4 is not about how to be saved but it's about what Paul was going to deal with in the chapter found in 1 Cor 15:11! Quote: 1 Corinthians 15:11 Therefore whether it were I or they, so we preach, and so ye believed. 1 Corinthians 15:12 Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead? End Quote. That is what 1 Cor 15:1-4 has to do with in the context.
