Light in the City Dayton

Light in the City Dayton In light of the tragedies, hosting concerts was created as a gift of healing. All are welcome!

The concept of Light in the City was first conceived as a concert event in late 2019 following the Memorial Day tornadoes and the August 4 mass shooting in the Oregon District. It is the belief of the Dayton Catholic community — our sponsors, that Light in the City can serve as a catalyst for bringing together all disciples of Christ in our common belief in Jesus as our Lord, bringing healing in p

lace of divisions in our Church, national politics, and secular life. Sponsors: Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, The Marianists, Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati, Missionaries of the Precious Blood, Mathile Foundation, Sisters of the Precious Blood, Chaminade Julienne Catholic High School

Join us as Light in the City returns to Levitt Pavilion for a concert of hope, encouragement, and worship on Thursday, Sept. 5 at 7 p.m. This years musical artists include Joseph O'Brien and Building 429.

You may recognize Joseph O’Brien from his appearance on the show “America’s Got Talent.” Through his music, he hopes to inspire believers to be authentic about their faith. Joining Joseph is the GRAMMY® nominated band Building 429. They have garnered widespread popular and critical acclaim for their Christian Music. Dayton’s own contemporary Christian artist, Melody Baccus, will be the opening act. She hopes audiences will connect with God through her soulful performances.

The Missionaries of the Precious Blood are happy to support this year’s Light in the City concert. We are a religious congregation of priests, brothers and lay Companions who spread the Good News of God’s healing and reconciling love given to us through the Precious Blood of Jesus. The Blood of Christ is the font of life and a source of hope for all who long to live in peace. Despite the challenges and darkness that colors our world the Light in the City concert is an example of how the unconditional love of God shines brightly when we come together and live as one. Meet our sponsors! The Sisters of the Precious Blood is a Catholic women’s religious congregation devoted to Eucharistic prayer and motivated by the redeeming love of Jesus. We proclaim God’s love by being a life-giving, reconciling presence in our fractured world. We were founded in Switzerland in 1834, and we have called Dayton our home since 1923. Our central house is located on Salem Avenue, and our Sisters serve in Dayton, as well as across the United States and in Chile and Guatemala. We love our community — and we also enjoy great music! We look forward to celebrating both at Light in the City!

The Society of Mary - Marianist Province of the United States - is a Roman Catholic Religious Order of Brothers and Priests. As part of the wider Marianist Family, we live and minister as equals, modeling our lives after Mary, the mother of Jesus. Locally, we sponsor the University of Dayton, Chaminade Julienne Catholic High School and Bergamo Retreat Center, among many other ministries across the country and around the world. We are happy to support Light in the City as a way to build community in the Dayton area and we look forward to seeing everyone come together in a spirit of faith, hope and joy.
