Ryan Cemetery

Ryan Cemetery Also known as Ryan's graveyard, this historical burial ground served the rural community of Tarkington since at least the 1840’s.

It’s named for early settler John Jacob Ryan who owned land surrounding the area.

If you have a loved one buried at Ryan Cemetery please take a moment and read the attached rules. I know it says “new rules” but they’ve actually been in place for many years and are posted on each fence. I understand there will be some who disagree with this and that’s okay but this is necessary. Please pass the info along to anyone who may need to see it. Thanks!! ~ Amanda Fisher Meanor

With Memorial Day around the corner I thought it would be good to remind everyone that the continued upkeep and long term care of your loved ones finally resting place is dependent upon your donations. We do not receive any type of govt funding so, no matter the amount, your contribution counts! If you would like to donate you can mail a check payable to Ryan Cemetery Memorial Fund to the address listed below. I’m also working on electronic payment options as well.

Found this in a box of old letters. Otis Cannon was my great grandfather and he took care of the cemetery for many years. Now it’s my turn. Not exactly sure what year this was.
