Yesterday, the Bishops of the United States solemnly offered the Act of Consecration of our nation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, entrusting our country to the merciful love and sovereign lordship of Christ. This act of devotion seeks His grace for the renewal of our people, the strengthening of our families, and the guidance of our nation in truth and charity.

This morning we will unite ourselves spiritually to it by praying the same Prayer of Consecration at the conclusion of today’s 9:00 AM Mass, whether you join us in person or via livestream.

We invite all parishioners to participate in this moment of prayerful intercession for our nation, our families, and our parish community.

The text of the prayer is provided below in both English and Spanish so that all may join in one voice and one faith.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

O Most Sacred Heart of Jesus:

You know the longings of our hearts, and you desire that we enjoy friendship with you.

From your pierced side, you have poured out the wellspring of life, for which we thirst.

Your heart burns with a love for all people to return to a right relationship with you.

We celebrate the abundant gifts you have given this nation, founded on the self-evident truths that our Creator has endowed all people with the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

We make reparation for the offenses against you and against human dignity that have taken place in this nation.

May our hearts be united to yours, so that our families and communities enjoy peace and happiness; may broken relationships be reconciled, injustices repaired, and the wounds of our land be healed.

May your holy Catholic Church serve as a sign, pointing all people to your infinite love.

O Desire of Nations and Center of History, we ask you to bless these United States of America.

Who live and reign with God the Father

in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

God, for ever and ever.

Amen.

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us!

Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us!

This past Sunday at the 11:30 AM Mass, our parish had the tremendous honor of welcoming newly ordained Fr. Jacob Butz back to Christ the Redeemer to celebrate the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. What a joy to see him at the altar as a priest of Jesus Christ.

Fr. Jacob’s faithfulness, joy, and strong work ethic will serve him beautifully in his priestly ministry—especially as he prepares for his first assignment as parochial vicar at the Cathedral of Christ the King. He was a great gift to our parish last summer as a transitional deacon, and now he becomes a gift to the whole Church.

He will always have a place in our hearts and prayers, and we hope he visits often.
And for the record: his holy card proves that I am not the only one with a bizarre sense of humor—and no, I had absolutely nothing to do with that card.

Please keep Fr. Jacob in your prayers as he begins this new chapter of grace.
