True freedom is absolute inner freedom, controlling the body, speech and mind. Then the person is happy almost regardless of external circumstances and acts with full conviction.
In terms of the body, this inner concentration means, for example, controlling your diet, taking care of the body, and doing other things that protect us from disease and avoid many physical problems. However, this is only the first step.
Then speech is very important. We have no choice but to communicate. Therefore, we should be able to do it - it is worth developing the ability to communicate, know how to properly convey information.
Finally, and most importantly, remember that true freedom rests in your thoughts, in your mind. Each action - good or bad - ultimately determines our motivation for how we perceive the world. Hence the mental factor is extremely important.
Therefore, to gain freedom, you must control your body, speech and mind. This is how you will gain much more freedom than you imagine.
From this perspective, discipline is not about limiting yourself - on the contrary, you are in control to gain more freedom. If you control yourself, your ego, then you have all the freedom of the world. First, you become aware of the nature of the ego, so you can see that there is no ego to hurt or embarrass. True freedom comes from overcoming the "self" - the real cause of our obstacles, personal and global problems. From my own experience, I can say that working with "self" is very interesting. Working with internal experiences is extremely liberating - so much we can do with them, rather than focusing solely on external conditions, many of which we are unable to control anyway. The root of all problems is the belief that they are real. I wish you to find within yourself the freedom you crave.

"Imagine all the good things that you did. Just concentrate only on the good deeds, the accumulations of good karma, from the moment you woke up today until now and dedicate that to ALL sentient beings."

"Our mind is not used to balance, rather we are much more used to the state of constantly appearing thoughts, their uninterrupted streams. We are distracted, confused and anxious, and we feel comfortable with this habitual state of mind. Our mind is addicted to being restless, constantly moving. Meditation feels unnatural. Meditation is contrary to our known experience, which is why we must put effort into meditation that requires more than just spontaneous or momentary interest. To make progress, you need diligence and patience, and especially diligence combined with knowledge about how to meditate. This combination will bring results."
Shamar Rinpoche

A good and important reminder from the Karmapa.
Please read, share, meditate.
"Life is precious indeed, yet no matter how precious it may be, if we try to grasp it, it will slip out of our grasp like water. Therefore, with the support of the Buddha Dharma, may we learn to enjoy life by swimming in this infinite stream – not necessarily by swimming faster or slower, but by letting the water of life float and carry us, so that we can let go of control over life."

On the occasion of Losar and the dawn of the Year of the Male Water Tiger, Thaye Dorje, His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa, shares the following message for all of his students. Life is precious indeed, yet no matter how precious it may be, if we try to grasp it, it will slip out of our grasp like...

"It may feel as though we are living in an increasingly dangerous and scary world. It is true, that many people face the daily reality of war and violent conflict. For most of us, though, this negative impression flows from the news that we see on our screens or read in the newspapers. While it is important to be aware of what is happening around the world, when we constantly consume violence and fear, there is a risk that it can consume us.
When we look up from our screens, and take time to meditate on the nature of our mind, we may see a very different world. A world of hope. A world of loving kindness and compassion. Most importantly, we are able to calm our minds, respond with wisdom, and not react with anger or other afflictive emotions."

"Real happiness is a happy mind - it's hard to find it. In the modern world, people are covered by disturbing anxiety. Many can't go on the spot: they ride from one city to another, visit one country after another. This constant search for a new one means that a man is not happy enough. His mind wants to forget about the displeased with the help of different distractions.
Meditation, if you practice it correctly, allows you to calm the mind, stabilize it, and thus gain inner well-being and true happiness.
Our mind is tired of all these thoughts and impeding the emotions that fill it. Our body is also tired of fulfilling the orders of the crazy mind. The practice of meditation will bring our mind and body more peace than a walk in a park full of flowers."

"In Buddhism what we need to do is to integrate the methods into our lives. Buddhism is not something abstract or different from the life we live. It is a very clear decision that we want to use our lives in a meaningful way. We see that the situation in the world is full of problems and that it is difficult. We understand that all of these problems come from ourselves. We understand that the problems come from all the beings that live in this world. We then decide that we want to learn more so that we can help all beings.

The main way we can practice in our daily lives is by having a certain framework in our day. We always start in the morning by making a really strong wish that everything we do is something that will benefit others. Then we try in all our work, whatever we do, to be more awake and more aware of our minds—not just going up and down depending what happens on the outside, but trying to keep more mindfulness. Then, if we have the opportunity, we can get into a more regular practice where we sit down and do some meditation. The important thing is that we have it with us all the time."
