Sunday at Davidson UMC

From the beauty and tradition of worship in the Sanctuary to the energy of our second Modern Worship service in The Upper Room, Sunday was a wonderful picture of the life of our church.

Across different spaces and worship styles, we gathered as one church to pray, sing, hear God’s Word, connect with one another, and grow together in faith.

Modern Worship continues this Sunday at 11:11 a.m. in The Upper Room as we prepare for the official launch on September 13!

In the story of the Prodigal Son, both brothers need grace.

The younger brother’s sin is easy to see. The older brother’s is hidden behind obedience, comparison, anger, and resentment.

In “Sins of the Self-Righteous,” Rev. Dr. Elizabeth Coppedge-Henley reminds us that we don’t earn God’s love by checking all the right boxes. God’s grace meets us where we are and invites us to stop keeping score.

The question is: Will we stay outside comparing ourselves to others, or step inside and live by grace?

🚚 Pickup Artists: Serving Our Neighbors, One Load at a Time

Before many of us have started our day, Davidson UMC volunteers are already on the road making a difference.

Five mornings each week, more than 70 DUMC volunteers help operate the Second Harvest truck, collecting donated food from grocery stores across Davidson, Cornelius, and Huntersville. On some mornings, a single route brings in more than 2,000 pounds of food. Last year alone, the program collected more than 300 tons.

For volunteers like Dave Zartman and Leslie Thomas, the early mornings, heavy boxes, and tired muscles are worth it.

“It actually feels good to be part of a team helping others in our community,” Dave shared.

This is what serving our neighbors looks like. Thank you to every volunteer who gives their time, energy, and heart to this ministry. ❤️
