This is our "Door Board". It is one of the earliest iterations of our vision for discipleship. Take some time to think through this question: "What is a disciple?" For us, we believe a disciple is someone who is an apprentice of Jesus, learning to do, think, feel, and speak as he would, and who teaches others to do the same. How a disciple goes about doing those things are through what are classically known as spiritual disciplines. Over the next several weeks, we'll be sharing a little bit about which ones we engage with and where they fall in the path of discipleship.

We mentioned on New Year's Day our efforts at more intentional discipleship. One of the primary ways we've found to accomplish that goal is through John Mark Comer's Practicing the Way material. It is easy to digest and is friendly to anyone regardless of where they're at with Jesus. Practicing the Way is a solid primer on the life of a disciple and what shape it can take. Be looking out for more specific information about the various things we're learning in our discipleship efforts.

Did you know that every Sunday at 5:30, we gather together to have dinner, enjoy each other's company, share in communion and some Bible study and discussion? Want to join us? Let us know you're coming so we can make sure to keep a spot open for you! We'd love to have you at our table!

Over the last year, one of the things we've worked hard on is creating a pathway for intentional discipleship. We believe that a disciple is someone who has apprenticed themselves to Jesus, learning to do, think, speak, feel, and act as he would, and teaches others to do the same. As we start the New Year, we are excited to start sharing what that looks like for us. Look for these updates in the coming days.

This Sunday, at 5:30, we wrap up Matthew’s account of Jesus’s birth narrative. This 4-week study has been an insightful one that has had us learning about the foundation Matthew built to support his case that Jesus is the Messiah and the rightful King.

Tonight, we studied Matthew 2:1-12. As a summary of the entire lesson, we can't help but feel that Matthew leaves us with an important question: based on the responses of Herod, the scribes and priests, and the Magi, how will we respond to Jesus? Our answer is to seek, rejoice in, bow before, and worship him as King. How will you respond?

It has been a hot minute or several since we've posted anything here. We've taken the better part of the last year to really focus on who we are, what our goals are, and what direction we want to go as a group. We are excited to start sharing some of what we're seeing and expecting. Be on the lookout for more activity on this page starting with the New Year.

“Prayer is not a call to passivity. It is an activity that calls for purpose and determination. We are communicating with the God of the universe, ultimately saying we are utterly and completely dependent on Him. In our relationship with God, all we bring is need and we need Him to respond with compassion. We can have confidence when we pray because we are asking the sovereign God to move on our behalf. He can do all that we are unable to do and more. When Jesus calls us to pray, He says for isn’t pray earnestly. We sense a desperation in the word earnest. We are to pray as if everything is on the line; pray like we have everything to lose unless God intervenes.” Dhati Lewis in his book, “Among Wolves”
