FBC Davenport:
All Church. A sad reality is that in this race we run called life, the majority of us are perfectly content to just get a “participation trophy”. There is no effort or determination to win this race. This is also true in our spiritual lives. This is contrary to the instructions of God’s Word. 1 Corinthians 9:24. His encouragement to us is to do whatever it takes to win. That will probably require a major step-up in our level of commitment. Don’t be content to just participate, go for the prize. The good news is that if we are in this race to win, we have a prize waiting for us. 2 Timothy 4:7-8. Bro. Mike

FBC Davenport:
All Church. What do you expect to happen when you spread the gospel to those around you? Do you think that everyone you tell is going to respond positively or do you sometimes feel that your efforts will fall on deaf ears? Jesus shared a parable about this very thing. Matthew 13:3-9. His teachings about this shows us that there will be many different responses to the efforts of the sower. None of this negates the responsibility to continue to sow the seeds. That’s an important encouragement to us. Just sow the seeds of the Gospel. It is up to God as to what the results will be. 1 Corinthians 6:6-8. Don’t get discouraged or frustrated when things are not having the results you expect, just keep doing your job. Galatians 6:7-9. The harvest will come in God’s time and according to His plan. Bro. Mike

FBC Davenport:
All Church. We all deal with “giants” everyday in our lives. Fear, doubt, temptation to sin, anger, frustration, etc. all are giants that keep us from doing what God wants us to do. The story of David and Goliath teaches how through faith and courage, David was able to defeat this giant. 1 Samuel 17:32-51. I want to draw your attention, however, to what happened after the giant was dead. 1 Samuel 17:52-53. When the army of Israel saw what happened, they immediately joined in the battle. Remember these were the same men who just before had fled away in fear. 1 Samuel 17:24. The lesson is this—If you will exercise your faith and courage in fighting the giants you face, not only will you be successful, but it will encourage others to join in the battle. Bro. Mike

FBC Davenport:
All Church. Have you ever felt like God wanted you to do something really special? Kinda intimidating, huh? Let’s take a look at a story in the Bible that gives us the encouragement to how we can make this happen. 1 Kings 18:17-39. First, be willing to call out what is wrong. Verse 18. Second, declare the solution. Verses 21, 24. Third, do things exactly according to God’s instructions. Verses 29-36. Lastly, believe that God will answer and bring your efforts to His desired outcome. Verses 37-39. Dive into that special task with confidence that our God is with you. Bro. Mike
