Day 10 in Guatemala 🇬🇹
This morning began with a beautiful sunrise in Antigua and breakfast together at a local coffee shop, Fernando’s. We enjoyed wonderful coffee, breakfast, and fellowship in the courtyard, along with the opportunity to bring home some of their freshly roasted coffee and handmade chocolates.
After breakfast, we met up with our guide, Carlos, who led us through Antigua as we toured historic churches and ancient ruins. For the first time, our group was able to climb onto the roof of one of the churches, giving us incredible views of the city. Along the way, we also visited a chocolate factory and a jade workshop.
Carlos holds a special place in our hearts. Four years ago, while guiding one of our teams, he gave his life to Christ during a tour. Since then, his life has been completely transformed, and it has been a joy to see him faithfully following Jesus today.
After saying goodbye to Carlos, we stopped for lunch at what may be one of the most unique McDonald’s locations anywhere, set at the base of a volcano with a beautiful outdoor courtyard. The afternoon included time in the local market where team members bargained for textiles, crafts, and keepsakes to bring home.
We also want to give a special thank you to Hugo, Leah, and Juan, who are instrumental in leading groups, coordinating travel, translating, and faithfully walking alongside us throughout the trip. Your servant hearts and friendship mean more to us than words can express. And to Luke and Erin, you have become more than partners in ministry. You are family to us.
Later, we traveled back to Guatemala City, shared dinner together, and settled in at SETECA Seminary for our final night. We closed the evening with our last team debrief, reflecting on what the Lord has been teaching each of us and discussing practical steps for how we will live differently when we return home.
Tomorrow we head back to the United States. It has been an incredible trip, one that has shaped our hearts and will continue to impact our lives long after we leave Guatemala.
