Summer Lunch - Hands Together Final Update 2026
The Kids Summer Lunches in Breeds Park continue to be self-supporting, thanks to the many generous financial donations from our area community, the numerous contributions of food and special treats, and the gift of more than 225 sets of willing hands helping in the kitchen and at the park.

A special acknowledgment goes to Ron & Wendy Seefeldt and Julie Mischke for their many hours of service, and to Becky Nguyen for shopping each week for the food and creating the menus. The lunches simply would not happen without the hands and hearts of so many people.

This fifth summer of the Kids Lunches in Breeds Park was more successful than ever, with 4,228 lunches served. That represents a 35% increase from 2025.

It is a time to give thanks to God for the blessings, generosity, and miracle of five years of serving children in our community.

Next week, August 17–21, is our LAST week of Summer Lunches! 🍎🥪

We have been absolutely blown away by the number of kids we’ve been able to serve this summer. Some weeks, we have averaged around 90 kids each day!

There is a real need right here in our community, and without our amazing volunteers, we would not have been able to meet that need this summer. We are so grateful for everyone who has donated, served, prepared food, and supported this ministry! ❤️

As we head into our final week, we still need servers almost every day! Help us finish the summer strong!

We are so excited to spend the weekend with you while supporting many great causes in our community!

Be sure to stop upstairs for this year's Basket Fundraiser, where proceeds will benefit the Meeker County Veterans Service. Purchase your tickets throughout the day, then join us for the drawing immediately following the Ice Cream Social. You do not need to be present to win!

This year, we're also celebrating the 20th Annual Ice Cream Social! Our very first Ice Cream Social was held in 2006, right after the parade, and while a few things have changed over the years like adding our famous sloppy joes to the menu many traditions remain the same! As always, this is a free-will donation event, with all proceeds supporting the youth programs at Gethsemane Lutheran Church.

Join us Sunday evening for the Burger & Brat Feed before the fireworks! Proceeds from the meal will also support GLC's youth programs, with a special focus on helping students attend the 2027 ELCA National Youth Gathering.
