🎓✨ Investing in education means investing in a more compassionate future.

On July 18, our Tzu Chi USA Midwest Region awarded 13 outstanding students with scholarships to help them pursue higher education while recognizing their dedication to academic excellence and community service.

More than financial support, the ceremony welcomed recipients into the Tzu Chi family. Through stories of perseverance, gratitude, and giving back, students shared how the scholarship not only eases the burden of college expenses, but also inspires them to continue serving their communities. Many expressed a desire to carry forward Tzu Chi's spirit of compassion through careers in education, public service, finance, and beyond.

As volunteers introduced Tzu Chi's missions of charity, medicine, education, and humanistic culture, the ceremony served as a reminder that education and compassion can create lasting ripples of kindness for generations to come.

🎓 Your generosity can help the next generation turn their dreams into reality. Every gift empowers students to pursue higher education and give back to their communities.

When a tornado struck Charleston, Illinois, Tzu Chi volunteers answered the call with compassion. 💙

On July 11, 13 volunteers traveled three hours from Chicago to Charleston City Hall to deliver emergency relief to families affected by the disaster. Together, they distributed $17,200 in cash cards and 30 eco-friendly blankets to 23 severely impacted families.

🌎 How can one small act of kindness help heal the Earth?

At this year’s Earth Day, Tzu Chi USA volunteers gathered at Palmisano Park in Chicago to care for the environment, one piece of litter at a time.

They collected trash and recyclables, helping keep public spaces clean, protecting local ecosystems, and encouraging proper recycling. For our volunteers, caring for the Earth is also caring for the people who share it. A cleaner environment helps create healthier, safer, and more welcoming communities for everyone.

Guided by Dharma Master Cheng Yen's teachings, every act of environmental stewardship is an expression of compassion in action. Whether picking up a single bottle or inspiring others to do the same, each small effort creates ripples of positive change.

💚 Together, we can contribute to protecting the planet through simple acts of kindness.

In the wake of the devastating tornadoes that struck Michigan, Tzu Chi USA Midwest Region volunteers crossed state lines to bring relief, comfort, and hope to affected families. 💙

The tornadoes claimed lives, injured dozens, and destroyed homes across the community. In response, 23 volunteers from Chicago, Detroit, Columbus, and surrounding areas came together with the American Red Cross to support survivors through a heartfelt relief distribution event.

With sincerity and compassion, volunteers provided:
🤝 Cash cards for immediate assistance
🧣 Eco-friendly blankets and Jing Si products
🎋 Bamboo banks to inspire kindness and giving
💛 Emotional support through listening, prayer, and companionship

One touching moment came when two children, themselves disaster survivors, placed donations into a bamboo bank before leaving, transforming from recipients of aid into givers of love.

Another mother shared that her daughter, who had emotionally withdrawn after the tornadoes, smiled again for the first time during the event.

In total, 34 families and 106 survivors received support.

Though the tornadoes destroyed homes, they also revealed the strength of compassion, unity, and humanity. Together with local partners and communities, Tzu Chi continues to bring hope where it is needed most.
