Pope Leo XIV is inviting Catholics around the world to join him in praying a rosary for peace on May 30.

The Holy Father is set to pray the rosary live from the Lourdes Grotto in the Vatican Gardens at 7 p.m. Rome time. Monsignor Walter R. Rossi, rector of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C., will join Pope Leo in praying the rosary with a simultaneous livestream at 1 p.m. ET.

On Saturday, May 30, seminarian Justin Motes will be ordained to the diaconate. The following Saturday, June 6, Deacons Noah Pace, Jared Miller and Fred Williams will be ordained to the priesthood. These ordinations will both take place at 10:00 am at the Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist in Savannah. Please continue to pray for these young men, our ordained clergy and all of those discerning a call to ministry or consecrated life.

The following message is reposted from the Brantley County Sheriff’s Office; please continue to pray for all affected by this fire, those fighting this fire, and for much-needed rain throughout the Southeast.

Good morning from the Highway 82 fire. As of this morning at 0700 the Southern Area Complex Incident Management Team 1 (Red Team) has assumed command of the fire working for Georgia Forestry Commission Georgia and working side-by-side with all of our state County and local partners in these emergency response efforts.
Currently there are 59 fire departments from across the state working specifically on structure protection efforts as well as 20 dozers and 8 type 6 engines. Air resources include small and large helicopters and large air tankers.
As conditions improve the road may reopen. Please follow all law enforcement guidance and road barricades, these are in place for your safety.
After good relative humidity recovery across the area last night, winds today will be out of the SW at 5-7 mph and humidities will drop below 30% through the day. These conditions will create conditions for increased fire activity during the heat of the day.
Evacuations are still in place and we anticipate that conditions may warrant additional evacuations. Curfew beginning tonight 8:30 PM - 6:30 am in the affected area.
A full update will be following a little later. This page will continue to be your source of fire information for the Hwy 82 fire.
